Alfa Romeo Giulia tune: one diesel family, many outputs
Alfa Romeo sells the Giulia new in the U.S. as a compact sport sedan. The mainstream U.S. engine is the gasoline 2.0 turbo with 280 hp, so find your engine by its hp figure in the catalog. The diesel side of the Giulia is one family: the 2.2 Multijet, 2,143 cc, built by Fiat at Pratola Serra. Its output changed over the years: 136, 150, 160, 180, 190 and 210 hp. This page covers the 150 and 180 hp diesels with the GAN GT, so the right Alfa Romeo Giulia performance chip depends on your year and version.
The 160, 190 and 210 hp diesels have no separate Giulia rows. Look for the same engine under the Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.2 D. The 136 hp diesel isn't in the catalog. In the catalog, the 180 hp version reaches 221 hp with the GAN GT. The 150 hp version gains 44 hp. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power on the 2.2 Multijet. Those are rated gains for this engine type, not a dyno result from your car.
What stays untouched when you add the GAN module to a Giulia 2.2 diesel?
The module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched, and the engine's factory protections stay active. The ECU software is never changed and you can remove the module at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
