Performance Chip Tuning Nissan
Up to 30% more power for your Nissan
The Nissan catalog lists 423 engines (models: 77, generations: 106). For 27% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Nissan performance chip: more power, no ECU flash
The GAN module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Unlike a flash tuner, it doesn’t rewrite your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

Nissan tuning FAQ
What does a GAN performance chip do for a Nissan Qashqai 1.6 dCi?
The Qashqai 1.6 dCi makes 131 hp and 320 Nm stock, and 170 hp and 409 Nm with the GAN GT. Treat these as the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your vehicle.
Nissan engine tune: how can I tell a turbo from a naturally aspirated engine?
Check the last letter of the engine code. On the Micra and Qashqai, T means turbo and R means supercharger. The HR16DE carries neither letter, so it is naturally aspirated; the MR16DDT ends in a T, so it is a turbo. The version name helps as well, because DIG-T and dCi both mean turbo.
Which Navara 2.5 dCi versions does the GAN GT cover?
The GAN GT covers the D40 at 171, 174 and 190 hp, and the 3.0 dCi V6 at 231 hp. Go by output and year: from 2015 the D23 has a different engine, the 2.3 dCi, and the catalog covers only its 190 hp version.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tune for a Nissan dCi?
A flash tune rewrites the factory software inside the engine control unit (ECU). The GAN module is a different method: it sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your factory warranty is preserved. The ECU software never changes, and you can remove the module at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Nissan factory warranty?
No. The module doesn’t change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved. On top of that, GAN gives its own engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tuner: which should I choose?
A flash tuner rewrites the maps in your ECU, and the flash counter records it. The GAN module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Nissan engines: what to know before you tune
Nissan tune: start with the engine code
The catalog mixes models sold here, such as the Rogue, Pathfinder, Murano, Frontier and Sentra, with European ones like the Qashqai, so start with your engine code and hp. The 350Z, 370Z, Frontier, Titan and Armada are in the catalog too; find yours by its hp figure in the table. An Altima with the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four, rated at 188 hp in front-wheel drive, belongs with the GAN GA+; in the table the current Altima's 2.5 is listed at 190. Take the Qashqai: the 1.2 DIG-T of the second generation and the 1.6-liter gasoline engine of the first put out similar power. But for a Nissan tuner they count as two different engines. A DIG-T is a turbocharged, direct-injected gasoline engine, so the 1.2 DIG-T takes a different performance chip than a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, even at similar output.
Decode it like this: the letters name the engine family, and the two digits give the displacement in deciliters. On Micra and Qashqai engines, a final T in the code means turbo and a final R means supercharger. No suffix, as on the HR16DE, MR20DE, QR25DE and VQ35DE, means naturally aspirated. Turbo: MR16DDT. Belt-driven supercharger: QR25DER and HR12DDR. DIG-S is the name of the supercharged 1.2 gasoline engine in the Micra and the Note. Nissan and Renault share engines, so the HR16DE is really a Renault H4M, the MR20DE an M4R, the MR16DDT an M5Mt and the HR12DDT an H5Ft.
Diesel: rare here, mostly Renault engines abroad
Renault builds the dCi diesels used in the Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke: the 1.5 dCi K9K, 1.6 dCi R9M and 2.0 dCi M9R. Nissan's own 2.5 dCi, the YD25DDTi, sits in the Pathfinder and Navara. Any dCi in the catalog takes the GAN GT. That includes the Qashqai 1.5 dCi at 103 to 110 hp, the 1.6 dCi at 131 hp and the 2.0 dCi at 150 hp. On the X-Trail 2.0 dCi, the GAN GT fits both the 150 and the 173 hp versions.
The continental-European Navara D40 was built in Spain. Diesels there: the 2.5 dCi (174, 171 and 190 hp) and the 3.0 dCi V6 (231 hp). The Navara D23, built in Barcelona until December 2021, uses the 2.3 dCi in 160, 163 and 190 hp versions. The 160 and 163 hp versions are not in the catalog. In the U.S., the diesel to know is the Titan XD with the 5.0 Cummins V8, rated at 310 hp, and that engine has no row in the catalog yet.

Gasoline, hybrid and Nismo
Most dCi and DIG-T engines in the catalog take the GAN GT, rated up to 30% more power, and naturally aspirated gasoline engines take the GAN GA+, rated up to 12%. The Qashqai J12 and X-Trail T33 offer e-Power, a series hybrid. Its gasoline engine only runs a generator, so go to the model page rather than assume a figure.
Both the Juke Nismo and the Nismo RS take the GAN GT; their 1.6 DIG-T makes up to 218 hp. The U.S. Juke's 1.6 DIG-T is rated at 188 hp; the table lists that engine at 190, the metric figure. The GT-R's twin-turbo 3.8 V6 comes in several outputs, and the 2024 U.S. rating of 565 hp has no row in the catalog yet, so match older cars by hp in the table.
Which Nissan models are in the catalog
The catalog lists 77 models from Nissan. The most engines are listed for the Pathfinder (22), Almera (20) and X-Trail (19). The biggest gain among the models is on the Juke: up to +82 hp.
Naturally aspirated Nissan engines
For 299 naturally aspirated engines from Nissan, there’s the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% better fuel economy in ECO mode. It’s plug-and-play: you can install it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Nissan engine
Pick your model in the list above, then the generation by model year, and the engine by displacement and horsepower (see your owner’s manual or vehicle documents). The engine page shows the exact gain and the tuner price.
