GAN tuning module for Ford

Ford performance chip: more power, no ECU flash

The GAN module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Unlike a flash tuner, it doesn’t rewrite your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

FAQ

Ford tuning FAQ

What does a GAN performance chip do for a 1.0 EcoBoost?

The catalog shows the Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost at 125 hp going from 200 Nm to 260 Nm and from 125 hp to 162 hp with the GAN GT. The Focus Mk3 1.0 EcoBoost with 125 hp is rated at 170 Nm, not 200 Nm, so its GAN GT numbers are different. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Do Ford TDCi and EcoBlue diesels use the same GAN performance chip?

Yes. Both are diesels, and both take the GAN GT. Only the name changed with the model: EcoBlue arrived in the Focus Mk4 in 2018, in the Mondeo in February 2019 and in the Ranger in 2019.

What performance chip fits a naturally aspirated Duratec or Ti-VCT engine?

Naturally aspirated Duratec and Ti-VCT engines, like the Focus 1.6 Ti-VCT, take the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power.

Plug-in performance chip or flash tune for a Ford EcoBoost?

A Ford performance chip like the GAN module is not a flash tune: a flash rewrites the factory software, while the module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched, and the engine's factory protections remain active. After the module comes off, no traces remain, because nothing was ever written to the ECU. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Does the GAN module affect my Ford factory warranty?

No. The module doesn’t change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved. On top of that, GAN gives its own engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.

Plug-in performance chip or flash tuner: which should I choose?

A flash tuner rewrites the maps in your ECU, and the flash counter records it. The GAN module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.

About Ford engines

Ford engines: what to know before you tune

Ford tuner: from the 1.0 EcoBoost to the F-150, pick by engine family

Ford sells everything from pickups to the Mustang in the U.S., but this catalog also lists European Fords, so match your own engine, not just the badge. Ford names its engines by family. EcoBoost is a turbocharged gas engine with direct injection, TDCi covers the Duratorq diesels, EcoBlue the newer diesels, and Duratec or Ti-VCT mostly the naturally aspirated gas engines. On U.S. trucks you will also see PowerBoost, Power Stroke and plain V8 badges next to trims like XL, XLT, Lariat, Platinum and Raptor. The catalog's Ford list opens with one small engine: the 1.0 EcoBoost, a three-cylinder rated at 100, 125 or 140 hp.

In the Fiesta it arrived with the facelift of September 2012 at 100 and 125 hp, and a 140 hp version followed in August 2014. The Focus Mk3 offered the 1.0 EcoBoost at 100 and 125 hp from March 2012, the Puma lists it at 95 and 125 hp, and the EcoSport Mk2 uses it too. On the truck side, the 2021–2026 F-150 offers a 2.7 EcoBoost V6 rated at 325 hp, a turbocharged gas engine like the others on this list. Every EcoBoost, TDCi and EcoBlue engine pairs with the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power.

Diesels: TDCi first, EcoBlue later

Ford's TDCi diesels run from 1.4 to 2.2 liters in the cars, the Ranger pickup adds 2.5, 3.0 and 3.2, and some of them were co-developed with PSA. The Focus Mk3 came with the 1.5 and 1.6 TDCi at 95 to 120 hp and the 2.0 TDCi at 115, 140 and 163 hp, plus a 150 hp version from September 2014. From 2018 the Focus Mk4 switched to EcoBlue: the 1.5 at 95 and 120 hp and the 2.0 at 150 hp, and the Mondeo followed in February 2019. In the Mondeo Mk4, the 2.0 EcoBoost makes 203 and 240 hp, and the 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 TDCi diesels range from 100 to 200 hp.

The Kuga II of 2012 to 2019 started with the 1.6 EcoBoost at 150 and 182 hp. From October 2014 the 1.5 EcoBoost replaced it at the same outputs, and the 2.0 TDCi stayed on offer. A 2.0 EcoBoost with 242 hp joined the Kuga in fall 2017. Since 2019 the Ranger has run the 2.0 EcoBlue at 130, 170 and 213 hp.

Naturally aspirated gas engines and the sporty trims

Without a turbo, the Focus Mk3 had a 1.6 Ti-VCT at 85, 105 and 125 hp. The Fiesta offered the 1.25 Duratec at 60 and 82 hp and the 1.6 Ti-VCT at 105, 120 and 134 hp. Ford's 5.0 Ti-VCT V8 is naturally aspirated too, at 400 hp in the 2021–2026 F-150, so it belongs with the GAN GA+ group, not the GAN GT.

The sporty trims run on EcoBoost: the Fiesta ST has 182 hp from December 2012, the Focus ST 250 hp from June 2012, and the Focus RS 350 hp from 2016 to 2018. Europe has officially received the Mustang only since the sixth generation, and the catalog lists it with a 2.3 EcoBoost at 317 hp and a 5.0 V8 at 421 hp. For the U.S. Mustang, the 2.3 EcoBoost is rated at 315 hp on the 2025 model, and that seventh-generation engine has no row in the catalog yet; the table's 2.3 EcoBoost rows belong to the 2015 to 2023 car.

Which Ford models are in the catalog

The catalog lists 42 models from Ford. The most engines are listed for the Focus (64), Fiesta (52) and Mondeo (50). The biggest gain among the models is on the F-Series: up to +91 hp.

Naturally aspirated Ford engines

For 195 naturally aspirated engines from Ford, there’s the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% better fuel economy in ECO mode. It’s plug-and-play: you can install it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
