Performance Chip Tuning Opel
Up to 30% more power for your Opel
The Opel catalog lists 317 engines (models: 22, generations: 39). For 67% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Opel performance chip: more power, no ECU flash
The GAN module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Unlike a flash tuner, it doesn’t rewrite your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

Opel tuning FAQ
Which GAN performance chip fits the A14XER and the A14NET, and how much more power do they get?
The naturally aspirated A14XER takes the GAN GA+, and the turbocharged A14NET takes the GAN GT. In the catalog, the Astra J 1.4 goes from 100 hp and 130 Nm to 112 hp and 146 Nm with the GAN GA+. The 1.4 Turbo goes from 140 hp and 200 Nm to 181 hp and 260 Nm with the GAN GT. Those are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your vehicle.
Which GAN performance chip fits the CDTI diesels from Fiat, Isuzu and Opel?
Because a CDTI is a turbodiesel, most take the GAN GT, with separate figures for each output. The 1.6 CDTI comes in several outputs, such as 95, 110 and 136 hp in the Astra, so go by your stock figure. Also covered: the 1.3 CDTI (95 hp), the 1.9 CDTI (150 hp) and the 2.0 CDTI (160 hp).
Does the catalog cover the Cascada (sold here as the Buick Cascada), the Karl and the Combo?
The Karl has one engine in the catalog, the 1.0 gasoline, and it takes the GAN GA+. The Cascada takes the GAN GT on three engines: the 1.4 Turbo (120 and 140 hp), the 1.6 SIDI Turbo (170 and 200 hp) and the 2.0 CDTI BiTurbo. For the Combo, the catalog lists the 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0 CDTI plus a 1.4 gasoline engine. The Frontera isn't in the catalog.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tune for an Opel?
A flash tune rewrites the factory software. The GAN tuning module doesn't: it works between the engine sensors and the ECU, adjusting their signals. Checksums, flash counter and factory software stay untouched, and the engine keeps its factory protections. It plugs into the existing connectors and comes off in about a minute, leaving no traces once removed. Your factory warranty is preserved. The ECU software never changes, and you can remove the module at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Opel factory warranty?
No. The module doesn’t change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved. On top of that, GAN gives its own engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tuner: which should I choose?
A flash tuner rewrites the maps in your ECU, and the flash counter records it. The GAN module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Opel engines: what to know before you tune
Opel tune: not sold here, but the engines carry over
Opel itself isn't sold here: the Astra came as the Saturn Astra for 2008–2009, and other Opel-based cars have worn Buick, Saturn or Cadillac badges. The U.S. equivalents are the Buick Regal for the Insignia, the Buick Verano for the Astra J (a platform sibling, not a rebadge), the Buick Encore for the Mokka and the Buick Cascada for the Cascada, so match yours by engine code and hp. The Saturn Astra's naturally aspirated 1.8-liter is rated at 138 hp, which matches the catalog's Astra H 1.8i 140 row (a metric figure). An Opel Astra tune starts with one question: is your 1.4 ECOTEC turbocharged or not?
The name can't tell you, because ECOTEC is a trade name that Opel and GM use on gasoline and diesel engines alike. Only the engine code settles it. On the Astra J, A14XER is the naturally aspirated 1.4 (100 hp), and A14NET is the 1.4 Turbo (140 hp). The first letter of the code follows the engine generation, from Z to A, B and D, and the two digits give the displacement in tenths of a liter.
Gasoline engines: Turbo, SIDI and EDIT versus Twinport
Turbo in the name of a gasoline Opel means exactly that: a turbocharger. The 1.6 SIDI Turbo adds direct injection and comes in 170 and 200 hp versions. Look for EDIT, which stands for ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo. The 1.0 Turbo in the Adam, Corsa E and Astra K is an EDIT.
Twinport works the other way: it is an intake port system with flaps on the naturally aspirated 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 engines. One engine covers the Corsa F, which launched in November 2019: the 1.2 Turbo, 101 hp and 205 Nm. Turbo engines mostly take the GAN GT, rated up to 30% more power, and naturally aspirated ones mostly take the GAN GA+, rated up to 12%. The catalog always sets which performance chip suits your engine.

Diesel engines: a CDTI is always a turbodiesel
The Saturn Astra sold here ran a naturally aspirated gasoline four, so this diesel section covers European cars. A CDTI is always a common-rail turbodiesel, in Opel's naming. The catalog has the 1.3, 1.6, 1.7, 1.9 and 2.0, along with a 2.2, a 2.3 and a 3.0 V6. They come from different places: the 1.3 and 1.9 are Fiat Multijet engines, the 1.7 is from Isuzu, and the 1.6 is Opel's own.
Opel's own 1.6 CDTI: 110 and 136 hp in the Astra J (from May 2014), then 95, 110 and 136 hp in the Astra K (from July 2015). Two turbochargers and 195 hp make the 2.0 CDTI BiTurbo the strongest of them. The Astra J got it in November 2012, the Cascada in January 2013. An ecoFLEX badge means lower fuel use and CO2 output on that version. It is not a different engine. The Astra J carries it on versions of the 1.4, the 1.6 and the 1.3, 1.7 and 2.0 CDTI.
Which Opel models are in the catalog
The catalog lists 22 models from Opel. The most engines are listed for the Astra (64), Corsa (44) and Zafira (36). The biggest gain among the models is on the Corsa: up to +59 hp.
Naturally aspirated Opel engines
For 101 naturally aspirated engines from Opel, there’s the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% better fuel economy in ECO mode. It’s plug-and-play: you can install it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Opel engine
Pick your model in the list above, then the generation by model year, and the engine by displacement and horsepower (see your owner’s manual or vehicle documents). The engine page shows the exact gain and the tuner price.
