About the generation

What makes the Opel Corsa D special

Opel Corsa D tune: start with the 1.2 and the 1.4

Opel never sold the Corsa D new in the U.S., so a Corsa D here is a European-market car. Two engines cover most of these cars: the 1.2 and the 1.4. Both gas engines anchored the range when European sales began in October 2006. Neither has a turbo, so the GAN GA+ is the performance chip for either one.

For a Corsa D 1.2 performance chip, the catalog lists the 80 hp version with 110 Nm. The January 2010 update added an 85 hp version of the 1.2, and the GAN GA+ takes it to 95 hp. The 1.4 depends on its output: 90 hp until October 2009, 100 hp from November 2009 and 87 hp from February 2010.

Diesels, turbo gas engines and the OPC

The European 1.3 CDTI (75, 90 and 95 hp) and 1.7 CDTI (125 and 131 hp) diesels take the GAN GT. So does the 1.4 Turbo ecoFLEX at 120 hp, built from June 2012. The 1.6 Turbo cars are GAN GT cars too: the GSi at 150 hp, the OPC at 192 hp and the Nürburgring Edition at 211 hp.

What does a Corsa D 1.2 performance chip add at 80 hp?

The 1.2, rated at 80 hp and 110 Nm, reaches 90 hp and 123 Nm with the GAN GA+. The three 1.4 outputs gain 10 to 12 hp. These are stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your car. Since the Corsa D was never officially sold in the U.S., confirm your engine and hp on the car's documents before you pick a tuner.

Is the timing chain a weak spot on Corsa D gas engines?

On the 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 gas engines the chain can stretch when the car mostly makes short trips; listen for a rattle at idle and on a cold start. The 1.4 is less prone to it.

What does the GAN GT add to the Corsa D 1.3 CDTI?

It's a turbodiesel, so it takes the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power. The catalog gain is 27 hp and 60 Nm on the 90 hp version and 22 hp and 54 Nm on the 75 hp version.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
