Performance Chip Tuning Citroen
Up to 30% more power for your Citroen
The Citroen catalog lists 325 engines (models: 30, generations: 38). For 77% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for 76 naturally aspirated engines, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Citroen performance chip: more power, no ECU flash
The GAN module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Unlike a flash tuner, it doesn’t rewrite your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

Citroen tuning FAQ
Is the 1.6 HDi 110 identical in the C3, C4, C5 and Berlingo, and what does the GAN GT add?
The catalog treats every model and version on its own: 109 hp and 240 Nm in the C3 I, 111 hp and 270 Nm in the C3 II, C4 II, C5 II and Berlingo. Take the 111 hp C4 II: the GAN GT lifts 111 hp and 270 Nm to 143 hp and 348 Nm. Those are the catalog gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Citroën tuner and the 1.2 PureTech wet timing belt: does it help?
The wet belt is a documented issue: PSA ran a recall and a service campaign for it. Frequent oil changes help, and you can check the belt through the oil filler neck. A performance chip adjusts sensor signals. It doesn't touch the belt or any other mechanical part, so the belt question stays the same either way. On the C4 II and the Berlingo the 110 hp PureTech takes the GAN GT, and so does the 130 hp version in the Berlingo.
Do the 1.6 THP and the 1.6 VTi take the same module?
Not the same one: the turbocharged THP needs the GAN GT, and the naturally aspirated VTi takes the GAN GA+.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tune on a Citroën HDi?
The difference is where the change happens. A flash tune rewrites the factory software; the GAN module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, the checksums and the flash counter stay untouched, and the engine keeps its factory protections. Take the module off and nothing is left behind, because nothing was ever written to the ECU. The ECU software is never changed, so your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can come off at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Citroen factory warranty?
No. The module doesn’t change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved. On top of that, GAN gives its own engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tuner: which should I choose?
A flash tuner rewrites the maps in your ECU, and the flash counter records it. The GAN module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Citroen engines: what to know before you tune
Citroën performance chip: it starts with one diesel
Citroën pulled out of the U.S. in 1974 and hasn't sold modern models here. You'll only meet these cars under their European badges, with no U.S. names or trims. A Citroën ECU tune mostly comes down to a single diesel: the 1.6 HDi 110 in the C3, C4, C5, Berlingo and C3 Picasso. That engine is the DV6. The first C3 got it as the 1.6 HDi FAP at 109 hp from October 2005, and later versions carry the BlueHDi badge, which in the Berlingo means 75, 100 and 120 hp.
The catalog lists the 1.6 HDi 110 FAP separately for each model, so choose by model and by your car's exact stock figures. The 2.0 HDi (DW10) follows the same pattern in the C4, the C5 and the Jumpy. Turbo diesels, plus the turbocharged THP and PureTech gasoline engines, take the GAN GT, with up to 30% more power.
Gasoline engines: THP, PureTech and VTi
For gasoline Citroëns, the engine family (THP or PureTech) is what you go by. The C4 and C5 THP is a turbocharged 1.6 making 140, 150 or 156 hp, while the VTi is a naturally aspirated 1.6 making 120 hp. Both come from the Prince family (EP6) developed with BMW, whose own versions are called N12 to N18. The 1.2 PureTech at 110 hp is a turbo engine, in the C4 from May 2014 and in the C3 Picasso from March 2015.
Citroën also sold the C4 with a 130 hp PureTech. The 1.6 VTi at 120 hp takes the GAN GA+. The first C4 had the 1.6 THP at 140 hp until November 2009 and at 150 hp until August 2010.

Vans, large sedans and the DS models
The Jumper is a twin of the Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer. Its 2.2 HDi at 120 hp (2007 to 2010) was a Ford Puma engine, and from 2016 it ran the 2.0 BlueHDi at 110, 130 and 160 hp, with the 2.2 BlueHDi at 140 hp arriving in June 2019. The C5 range topped out with twin-turbo V6 diesels: a 2.7 HDi at 204 hp in 2008 and 2009, then a 3.0 HDi 240 at 241 hp from September 2009. Toyota co-developed the third-generation Jumpy of 2016, which is built at Hordain. The DS3, DS4 and DS5 started as Citroën models, and DS Automobiles split off from Citroën over 2014 and 2015.
Which Citroen models are in the catalog
The catalog lists 30 models from Citroen. The most engines are listed for the C4 (43), C5 (40) and DS3 (24). The biggest gain among the models is on the C5: up to +65 hp.
Naturally aspirated Citroen engines
For 76 naturally aspirated engines from Citroen, there’s the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% better fuel economy in ECO mode. It’s plug-and-play: you can install it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
