Performance Chip Tuning Honda
Up to 30% more power for your Honda
The Honda catalog lists 296 engines (models: 51, generations: 76). For 9% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Honda performance chip: more power, no ECU flash
The GAN module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Unlike a flash tuner, it doesn’t rewrite your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

Honda tuning FAQ
What does a performance chip add to a turbodiesel like the European 2.2 i-DTEC?
Take the Accord VIII 2.2 i-DTEC: 150 hp and 350 Nm stock, then 193 hp and 445 Nm with the GAN GT. The CR-V III and IV and the Civic IX carry this engine with the same figures. Those are catalog gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car. Watch two things on this diesel: the diesel particulate filter (DPF) clogs on short trips, and the flexible EGR bypass hose can crack. A performance chip doesn't clean a filter or replace a hose, so check both before you fit one.
Honda Civic tune: what does the GAN GT add to the 1.5 VTEC Turbo?
Both the Civic X at 182 hp and the CR-V V at 193 hp take the GAN GT. Catalog gains: 52 hp and 72 Nm on the Civic, 41 hp and 51 Nm on the CR-V. On the 1.5T, fuel dilution of the engine oil comes up with repeated short trips in cold weather, so keep your oil service up to date before you tune.
What does the GAN GA+ add to a naturally aspirated i-VTEC?
The Civic IX 1.8 i-VTEC at 142 hp gains 17 hp and 21 Nm. The Accord VIII 2.4 i-VTEC at 201 hp gains 24 hp and 28 Nm. Both gains sit at the GAN GA+ level of up to 12% more power, which is why a naturally aspirated Honda adds less than a turbodiesel.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tune on a Honda?
A flash tune rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit (ECU). The GAN tuning module works differently: it sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, the checksums and the flash counter all stay as they were, and the engine keeps its factory protections. It plugs into the existing connectors and unplugs in about a minute. After removal, nothing has been written to the ECU. The ECU software is never changed, so your factory warranty is preserved, and you can remove the module at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Honda factory warranty?
No. The module doesn’t change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved. On top of that, GAN gives its own engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tuner: which should I choose?
A flash tuner rewrites the maps in your ECU, and the flash counter records it. The GAN module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Honda engines: what to know before you tune
Honda tuner: not every Honda is naturally aspirated
Start with the engine, because not every Honda is a naturally aspirated gas car. The U.S. range covers the Civic, Accord, CR-V, Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline, but many models in this catalog were never sold there officially. In the European catalog, the Civic X brought the 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC Turbo in March 2017, and the CR-V V got the 1.5 VTEC Turbo the same year. In the 2023 to 2025 model years the Accord's 1.5T was rated at 192 hp.
The Civic Type R has been turbocharged since the 2015 FK2. Type S is a trim level, not an engine. Honda also built its own 2.2 turbodiesel for Europe. The 2.2 i-CTDi (N22A) made 140 hp from 2004 to 2010, the 2.2 i-DTEC (N22B) made 150 to 180 hp from 2009 to 2015, and the 1.6 i-DTEC (N16) made 120 to 160 hp from 2013 to 2019. Every one of those diesels is turbocharged.
Naturally aspirated i-VTEC engines and hybrids
Before 2017, the gas engines in the Civic, Accord, CR-V and Jazz had no turbo. Displacements run from the 1.2 and 1.4 in the Jazz and the 1.4 and 1.8 in the Civic up to the 2.0 and 2.4 in the Accord and CR-V. The CR-V shows the shift: its 2.0 and 2.4 naturally aspirated gas engines gave way to the 1.5 VTEC Turbo in Europe. Even the Civic VIII Type R, a 2.0-liter engine making 201 hp, ran without a turbo.
The 2025 brochure lists the Civic's 2.0 as a naturally aspirated gas engine rated at 150 hp. If a Civic VII or VIII says h or Hybrid in its name, it's an IMA hybrid on a 1.3 gas engine. On those cars, check whether a quoted figure covers the gas engine alone or the whole hybrid system.

Which GAN module fits which Honda
Every engine in the catalog is matched with a module. Turbo engines, meaning the diesels and the VTEC Turbo, take the GAN GT, with up to 30% more power. Naturally aspirated gas engines take the GAN GA+, with up to 12%. For a Honda Civic tuner or any other Honda, the engine name decides the module. The 1.5 VTEC Turbo takes the GAN GT: 182 hp in the Civic X, 193 hp in the CR-V V.
Naturally aspirated i-VTEC engines, such as the 1.8 in the Civic IX and the 2.4 in the Accord VIII, take the GAN GA+. The European 2.2 diesel takes the GAN GT in the Accord VII and VIII, the CR-V III and IV, and the Civic VIII and IX. The 1.6 i-DTEC on the CR-V IV and the Civic IX and X takes the GAN GT as well. Bottom line: the engine code matters more than the badge.
Which Honda models are in the catalog
The catalog lists 51 models from Honda. The most engines are listed for the Civic (49), Accord (35) and CR-V (23). The biggest gain among the models is on the Civic: up to +52 hp.
Naturally aspirated Honda engines
For 268 naturally aspirated engines from Honda, there’s the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% better fuel economy in ECO mode. It’s plug-and-play: you can install it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
