GAN tuning module for Audi

Audi performance chip: more power, no ECU flash

The GAN module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Unlike a flash tuner, it doesn’t rewrite your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What owners say

What Audi owners say about GAN

★★★★★

Hello! I received a Gan box from you today. I installed it. Well, I didn’t think that this box could change something. Initially, when I ordered it, I did not particularly believe in this device. But after I started the engine and came away I simply didn’t recognized my car. it’s like an airplane!!!. I hope my engine…

★★★★★

The car has become faster, I can’t say anything about consumption at this moment- I enjoy the dynamics of my car. The most interesting and inexplicable thing at the moment is that the gear shift (manual transmission) became softer and clearer, especially it is noticeable in the 1st, 2nd gear, possibly due to rev…

FAQ

Audi tuning FAQ

Is the Audi 3.0 TFSI supercharged or turbocharged, and does the GAN performance chip fit both?

It depends on the car. The 3.0 TFSI is supercharged in the A6 C6, A6 C7 and S4 B8, while the 2.0 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI are turbocharged. In the GAN catalog the 3.0 TFSI takes the GAN GT. What counts is your own engine, so check it against the table.

How do I find my Audi engine in the catalog, TDI or TFSI?

Look up your exact hp figure, for example the A6 C7 2.0 TDI at 177 hp. Diesel hardware differs by generation: pump-injector engines are the PD generation (EA188), and common-rail engines are the EA189 and EA288.

What do 35, 40 and 45 TFSI mean when you shop for an Audi tune?

They are power classes, not displacements, so a 40 TFSI badge says nothing about engine size in liters. Audi launched the scheme with the A8 on August 23, 2017, and the other models followed by summer 2018. On U.S. cars you'll mostly see 40, 45 and 55 TFSI.

Plug-in performance chip or flash tune on an Audi: what stays untouched?

A flash tuner rewrites the factory software. The GAN module doesn't: it sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, the checksums and the flash counter all stay as they were, and the engine keeps its factory protections. Take the module off and no traces remain, because nothing was ever written to the ECU. The ECU software is never changed, so your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can come off at any time.

Does the GAN module affect my Audi factory warranty?

No. The module doesn’t change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved. On top of that, GAN gives its own engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.

Plug-in performance chip or flash tuner: which should I choose?

A flash tuner rewrites the maps in your ECU, and the flash counter records it. The GAN module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.

About Audi engines

Audi engines: what to know before you tune

Audi tune: what TFSI, TDI and FSI really mean

Start with the badge on the engine, because the letters say less than they seem. The right performance chip is matched to your exact engine, not to its name. One badge can cover several power ratings, so the hp figure tells you more than the displacement. Audi sells its core models in the U.S., but the U.S. range is narrower than the European catalog.

FSI means gasoline direct injection; TFSI adds a turbo or supercharger to it. Forced induction isn't always a turbo: the 3.0 TFSI in the A6 C6, A6 C7 and S4 B8 is supercharged, while the 2.0 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI are turbocharged. TDI is a direct-injection turbodiesel, and Europe has seen several generations: VE distributor pumps, then PD pump-injectors (EA188), then common rail (EA189 and EA288). The V6 diesels are the EA896 and EA897. Extra names describe the car, not the engine: quattro is all-wheel drive, ultra is the economy version, g-tron is CNG.

Audi TFSI, TDI and the diesel side of the catalog

The 2015 A4 2.0 TFSI is rated at 220 hp, so find your engine by its hp figure in the table. The U.S. A6 55 TFSI with the 3.0 TFSI V6 is rated at 335 hp; in the table it is the A6 (C8) 55 TFSI row, listed at 340, the metric figure for the same engine. The diesel side is largely European. In Germany, diesel made up 70.4% of A4, S4 and RS4 registrations in 2008 and 87.6% in 2014, and 90.9% of A6 and S6 in 2010. Typical A4 engines ran from the 2.0 TDI at 120 to 190 hp to the 3.0 TDI at 204 to 245 hp. The A6 C7 range centered on the 3.0 TDI (204 and 245 hp) and the 2.0 TDI (177 hp).

The 2014 facelift added the 2.0 TDI ultra at 190 hp and the 3.0 TDI at 218 and 272 hp. Turbodiesels and turbo gasoline engines in the catalog mostly take the GAN GT, with up to 30% more power. Naturally aspirated gasoline engines such as the 2.8 FSI and 4.2 FSI take the GAN GA+, with up to 12%. Either way, the module is the one the catalog lists for your engine.

S and RS models keep their own names

Since August 23, 2017 Audi has coded power as a number, but the S and RS models kept their names. Shopping for an Audi S3 tune? The S3 8V made 300 to 310 hp from 2013 to 2020. The S4 B8 (2008–2015) has a supercharged 3.0 TFSI at 333 hp.

In the RS6 C7 you get a 4.0 TFSI at 560 hp, or 605 hp in the performance version. Older S cars used a V8. The S4 B6 and B7 came with a 4.2 V8 at 344 hp.

Audi body codes and model years

Every Audi body code has a Typ number: B5 is 8D, B6 and B7 share 8E, B8 is 8K, B9 is 8W. A6 codes: C5 (4B), C6 (4F), C7 (4G) and C8 (4A). The A4 B8 covers 2007 to 2015 (facelift in 2011), and the B9 runs from 2015 to 2024. A6 production: the C7 from late 2010 to 2018, the C8 from 2018 to 2025.

Which Audi models are in the catalog

The catalog lists 31 models from Audi. The most engines are listed for the A6 (88), A4 (79) and A3 (44). The biggest gain among the models is on the S8: up to +103 hp.

Naturally aspirated Audi engines

For 99 naturally aspirated engines from Audi, there’s the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% better fuel economy in ECO mode. It’s plug-and-play: you can install it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
