Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.
Same badge, different factory power outputs in this generation:
Audi TT 8N tune: what changes
More power and torque with no ECU flash and no new parts – the module only adjusts the engine sensor signals. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Audi TT 8N special
Audi TT 8N tune: the 225 hp quattro against the 180
Audi built about 276,500 TT Typ 8N (Mk1) cars from 1998 to 2006, and the catalog covers three of their engines. In the U.S. the TT Mk1 came as a coupe and a roadster, with a front-wheel-drive 1.8T, a quattro 1.8T and a 3.2 quattro. The 1.8 T at 180 hp with a K03 turbocharger reaches 202 hp, and the 1.8 T quattro at 225 hp with a K04 reaches 252 hp. Both are turbocharged 1.8 T 20V engines with multipoint injection, and neither is a TFSI.
They match the U.S. 1.8T ratings of 180 hp and 225 hp, so find your car in those rows. The 3.2 VR6 at 250 hp arrived in 2003, and the GAN GA+ takes it to 280 hp. The U.S. 3.2 quattro is that same naturally aspirated engine at 250 hp. All three engines take the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power.
Torque with the GAN GA+
The GAN GA+ raises torque on the 180 hp 1.8 T from 235 Nm to 263 Nm. The 225 hp quattro goes from 280 Nm to 314 Nm. The 3.2 VR6 climbs from 320 Nm to 358 Nm; it came with quattro only, paired with a six-speed manual transmission or the DSG.
Audi TT 8N tuning FAQ
Audi TT Mk1 with 150, 163, 190 or 240 hp: is my engine covered?
A 1.8 T with 150 hp has no row of its own under the TT 8N; the same engine is listed as the 1.8 TFSI 150 hp of the Audi A3 8L. The 1.8 T with 163 hp likewise sits under another model, as the 1.8T 163 hp of the Audi A4 B7. The 1.8 T with 190 hp and the 240 hp 1.8 T of the quattro Sport have no row in the catalog. The U.S. TT came with the 180 hp or the 225 hp 1.8T, so check those two rows first.
Audi TT 8N 180 performance chip: which GAN module fits the 1.8 T?
The 180 hp 1.8 T takes the GAN GA+, front-wheel drive or quattro. In Europe, the 190 hp engine replaced the 180 hp version from September 2005.
Audi TT Mk1: GAN performance chip or flash tune?
A flash tune is stored in the ECU. The GAN performance chip works on the sensor signals instead, and once you remove it no traces remain. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time. These are rated gains for these engine types, not dyno readings from your car.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
