What makes the Audi S3 8V special
Audi S3 8V tune: one engine, three power levels
The U.S. got the 8V S3 only as a sedan, with quattro and a six-speed S tronic. Every 8V S3 has the same engine, the 2.0 TFSI EA888 Gen 3, with quattro and a Haldex clutch, so an Audi S3 tune starts with the build date, which decides the GAN performance chip. Premium gas is required on the U.S. S3. In Europe the engine makes 300 hp and 380 Nm from May 2013, 310 hp from May 2016, and 300 hp again from November 2018, now with 400 Nm and a particulate filter.
The European manual transmission has six speeds; the S tronic has six before 2016 and seven after. The cabriolet of July 2014 comes with the S tronic only. The U.S. S3 was rated at 292 hp, a little below the European 300 hp, so use the 300 hp row.
GAN GT gains for the 8V
The 300 hp version with 380 Nm reaches 351 hp and 445 Nm with the GAN GT performance chip. The 310 hp facelift version goes to 363 hp. The 300 hp version with 400 Nm from 2018 has no row of its own for the S3 8V; look for the same engine under the VW T-Roc 2.0 TSI R.

Is my 2016 Audi S3 engine 300 hp or 310 hp?
The engine makes 300 hp until April 2016 and 310 hp from May 2016, with 380 Nm on the manual or 400 Nm on the S tronic. So the build date decides, not the badge. A U.S. S3 is an S tronic sedan, so the manual figures don't apply to it.
Does the module touch the transmission on an Audi S3 8V with S tronic and quattro?
No: the GAN module never reprograms the transmission. S tronic and quattro both come standard on a U.S. S3.
Flash tune or GAN module on an Audi S3: what changes on the car?
A flash tune rewrites the software in the ECU, while the GAN module adjusts the sensor signals and leaves the checksums of the factory software as they are. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time. These are rated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
