What makes the Audi RS4 special
Audi RS4 tune: one naturally aspirated V8
No turbo here: the RS4 B7 runs a naturally aspirated 4.2 FSI V8. Audi sold the B7 RS4 new in the U.S. as a quattro sedan and a cabriolet. The B8 RS4 Avant was never sold here. The B7 makes 420 hp. The B8 (2012 to 2015) makes 450 hp from a further-developed 4.2 FSI, the same engine the RS5 has had since 2010. With the GAN GA+, an Audi RS4 performance chip, the 420 hp engine reaches 454 hp and the B8 engine, listed at 444 hp, reaches 480 hp, rated at up to 12% more power. On a naturally aspirated V8 the gain is modest and shows up as throttle response, not boost.
Those are rated gains for these engine types, not a dyno result from your car. Don't mix up the RS4 B7 and S4 B7 engines: the S4 has a port-injected 4.2 V8 with 344 hp, and the RS4 a high-revving 4.2 FSI. Carbon buildup on the intake valves of the direct-injection 4.2 FSI is worth checking on a B7 before you add a module. The 2.7 biturbo of the RS4 B5 and the 2.9 TFSI of the RS4 B9 aren't in the catalog.

How much torque does the GAN GA+ add to an Audi RS4?
With the GAN GA+, torque rises from 430 Nm to 464 Nm on both engines: the 420 hp B7 and the B8 listed at 444 hp. The B7's stock peak of 430 Nm arrives at 5,500 rpm.
Audi RS4 Stage 1: flash tune or plug-in performance chip?
A flash tune rewrites the software in the ECU. The GAN module sits between the sensors and the ECU instead, and the factory software stays as it was. The ECU software is never changed and you can remove the module at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
