Audi S5 tune: what changes
More power and torque with no ECU flash and no new parts – the module only adjusts the engine sensor signals. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Audi S5 special
Audi S5 tune and the 4.2 V8
For an Audi S5 performance chip, the engine to know is the 4.2 FSI V8 of the S5 Coupé 8T, built from March 2007 to August 2011. In the U.S., the S5 has been sold as a coupe, a cabriolet and a Sportback, and the early 4.2 V8 coupe is the one covered here. This V8 has no turbo. It's a direct-injection engine from the EA824 family. It makes 354 hp at 7,000 rpm and 440 Nm at 3,500 rpm, and carries the code CAUA.
The U.S. rating for this V8 on 2008–2012 cars is the same 354 hp, so it is this row. Quattro is standard, with a choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed Tiptronic. The RS5 uses the same base V8; in the S5 it's rated at 354 hp. Carbon buildup on the intake valves of a direct-injection V8 is worth cleaning out before you add a module.
The S5 after the 2011 facelift
The 2011 facelift dropped the V8 from the Coupé and brought in a supercharged 3.0 TFSI with 333 hp and 440 Nm. U.S. S5s with the supercharged 3.0 TFSI, from the 2010 Cabriolet to the 2017 Coupe, were rated 333 hp. On the Coupé, the 3.0 TFSI carries the codes CGWC and CGXC and, from 2014, CREC. The Cabriolet and Sportback use CCBA and CAKA.
The Cabriolet (2009–2017) and the Sportback (2009–2016) had the 3.0 TFSI from day one and never got the V8. The next generation, the F5 (2016–2024), has a 3.0 TFSI V6 with 354 hp. From 2019 Europe also had an S5 TDI with 347 hp. In the U.S., the F5's 3.0 TFSI is turbocharged and was rated 354 hp for 2018 and 349 hp from 2019.
What to call each S5
The first S5, with the 4.2 V8, is the B8; the facelifted 3.0 TFSI car is the B8.5. Audi's code for the Coupé is 8T3. The B9 (F5) generation ran from 2016 to 2024. Look for it as the S5 4.2 V8, which takes the GAN GA+.
Audi S5 tuning FAQ
How much power does the GAN GA+ add to the naturally aspirated S5 V8?
On naturally aspirated engines, the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power. On the S5 4.2 V8, it lifts output from 354 hp and 440 Nm to 382 hp and 475 Nm. Both are rated gains for this engine type, not a dyno result from your car.
Why do the S5 V8 and the RS5 V8 show different figures?
They share a base engine, the 4.2 FSI V8 of the EA824 family. Here the S5 is rated 354 hp at 7,000 rpm, and the catalog figures are for the S5 alone.
Does the 2012 S5 with the 3.0 TFSI have the same engine?
No. The later S5 has a supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 with 333 hp and 440 Nm. This page covers the 4.2 V8, so go by the engine, not the S5 badge.
Audi S5: flash tune or plug-in performance chip?
Unlike a flash tune, the GAN module doesn't rewrite the software: it adjusts the engine sensor signals before they reach the ECU. Take the module off and nothing is left behind, since nothing is ever written to the ECU. It plugs into the existing connectors and takes about a minute to remove.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
