What makes the Audi A4 B7 special
Audi A4 B7 tune: the engine decides which GAN module fits
The U.S. got the B7 as a sedan, an Avant and a Cabriolet, with a turbo 2.0T and a V6 engine. The 2.0 TFSI with 200 hp was the first TFSI in an A4, and in the B7 (Typ 8E) the GAN GT takes it to 254 hp. That engine is the U.S. 2.0T, rated at 200 hp, so for an A4 2.0T tune start with its row. The body style doesn't matter: sedan, Avant and cabriolet all go by engine, and the engine decides which GAN performance chip fits.
The 2.0 TFSI at 170 hp reaches 218 hp, and the 3.0 TDI at 232 hp reaches 262 hp. The 2.7 TDI with 179 hp gets 230 hp. The catalog is European, so it lists the diesels here although they never reached U.S. dealers, and the 3.2 FSI has no row in it yet. A 170 hp 2.0 TDI PD has no row of its own under the A4 B7; the catalog files the same engine under the VW Passat B6 as the 2.0 TDI PD 170 hp.
Where the GAN GA+ fits
The 2.0 TDI PD at 140 hp is a pump-injector engine, so it takes the GAN GA+. The 1.9 TDI goes from 116 hp to 130 hp. The 1.8 T with 163 hp is a turbocharged, multipoint-injected engine that reaches 183 hp with the GAN GA+.

The GAN GA+ takes the 2.0 TDI PD from 140 hp and 320 Nm to 157 hp and 358 Nm. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power.
Audi A4 B7 1.8T, 163 hp: what does the GAN GA+ add?
The 1.8 T was a European engine, not a U.S. one, and it goes from 163 hp and 225 Nm to 183 hp and 252 Nm. Think of the gains as rated for the engine type, not as dyno numbers from your car.
GAN performance chip or flash tune: what is the difference?
A flash tune rewrites the control unit, while the GAN performance chip plugs into the existing connectors, adjusts the sensor signals and leaves the factory software alone. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
