What makes the Nissan Skyline special
Nissan Skyline tune: which Skyline the catalog means
In the U.S., the V35 was sold as the Infiniti G35 from the 2003 model year, and the V36 as the Infiniti G sedan and coupe, badged G37 with the 3.7 V6. Say Skyline and most people think GT-R, R32 to R34, which the catalog does not list. The catalog covers a different car, the V35 and V36 sedans with V6 engines, and a Skyline tuner here means those engines.
In Germany, Nissan sold the Skyline only as a Datsun: the 240K-GT from 1973 to 1978, then the Datsun Skyline from 1978 to 1981. Official sales never covered the R31 to R34 generations in Europe, GT-R included; those cars come in as gray imports from Japan.
V35, V36 and V37 by name
The V35 (built from 2001) was the Japanese Skyline; buyers in the USA got it as the Infiniti G35. U.S. G35 ratings for the 3.5 V6 run from 260 hp to 306 hp, so only the 280 hp cars line up with the catalog's 3.5 row. Europe's V36 was the Infiniti G37, offered with a single 3.7 V6 at 320 hp; Germany got it in 2010. That is why a G37 from Europe sits under Infiniti, not Skyline. The U.S. G37's 3.7 V6 is rated at 328 hp in the sedan and 330 hp in the coupe, and the catalog lists both on the Infiniti G37 page.
Nissan gave Europe no Skyline for the V37 either: it is the Infiniti Q50 from 2014. Japanese versions are what the catalog covers. They are the 2.5 VQ25DD (215 hp), the 250GT with the VQ25HR (225 hp), the 3.0 VQ30DD (260 hp) and the 3.5 VQ35DE (280 hp); a 3.0 at 240 hp and 312 Nm is also listed. Which Skyline engine does a Japanese import have, V35 or V36?
V35 engines: the 2.5 VQ25DD, the 3.0 VQ30DD and the 3.5 VQ35DE. The V36 has the 250GT's VQ25HR.
Why is the GT-R's RB26DETT not on this page?
The GT-R's RB26DETT has no row in the catalog. Those GT-R generations were never official sales in Europe and arrive as gray imports.
How much more power does a Skyline 3.5 performance chip add?
Stock, the catalog's 3.5 makes 280 hp and 363 Nm; the GAN GA+ lifts it to 302 hp and 392 Nm. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power. Those are rated gains for the engine type, not dyno results from your car.
Is the Infiniti G37 or Q50 the same car as the Skyline?
They are the export names of the V36 and the V37.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
