What makes the Alfa Romeo Giulietta special

Alfa Romeo Giulietta tune: Quadrifoglio Verde or 1.4 MultiAir

The Giulietta was never sold new in the U.S., and its engines are European. With no U.S. model years or trims, you pick your engine by its engine code and hp. A Quadrifoglio Verde at 240 hp and a 1.4 MultiAir at 170 hp start far apart, and each gets its own GAN GT figures. The hot version runs the 1.75 TBi gas engine, listed as the 1.8 TBi in the catalog: 235 hp from 2010 and 240 hp from 2014.

That engine came in two output levels, so the catalog carries both rows, 235 hp and 241 hp. The 150 hp MultiAir is rated at 230 Nm, and the 170 hp version at 250 Nm. The base 1.4 TB without MultiAir makes 120 hp and 206 Nm, and it stayed in the lineup until production ended in December 2020. Find your engine by its hp in the table, and you have the right figures.

Giulietta diesels: match the output to your build year

The 1.6 JTDM made 105 hp from 2010 and 120 hp from 2015. The 2.0 JTDM came in 140, 150, 170 and 175 hp, all of them calibrations of one diesel. Each calibration goes with certain model years, so check when your car was built.

The 105 hp gas 1.4 left the range with the 2016 facelift. From the 2019 model year, three engines remained: the 1.4 TB 120, the 1.6 JTDM 120 and the 2.0 JTDM 170.

What does a Giulietta tune add: the QV or the 1.4 MultiAir 170?

With the GAN GT, the 235 hp QV goes to 299 hp and 433 Nm, and the 170 hp MultiAir to 218 hp and 325 Nm. Both engines are turbocharged, and on turbo engines the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are rated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

My Giulietta QV is 235 or 240 hp. Which GAN GT figures are mine?

Go by the build date: the engine made 235 hp until 2014 and 240 hp after that.

Giulietta 2.0 JTDM at 140, 150, 170 or 175 hp: which one is mine?

Match the output to the build year, since this one diesel was sold with four outputs. The catalog lists GAN GT figures for all four.

Giulietta tuner or flash tune: what is the difference?

Unlike a flash tuner, the GAN module doesn't rewrite your ECU software: it sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. It comes off in about a minute and leaves no traces. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
