What makes the Alfa Romeo MiTo special
Alfa Romeo MiTo tune: 135 hp or 170 hp
The 135 hp 1.4 MultiAir and the 170 hp Quadrifoglio Verde come from the same 1.4 TB MultiAir family. Alfa Romeo never sold the MiTo new in the U.S., so a MiTo here is a gray-market import. Identify the exact engine before you pick a tuner. The 170 hp engine powers the Quadrifoglio Verde and, from 2016, the Veloce. For an Alfa Romeo MiTo performance chip, the version matters: the 1.4 TB at 120, 135, 155 and 170 hp all take the GAN GT, each with its own figures.
The GAN GT also fits the 1.3 and 1.6 JTDM diesels and the 0.9 TwinAir. Gasoline engines without a turbo (the 1.4 8V and 16V, plus the 105 hp 1.4 MultiAir) take the GAN GA+. Built on the Grande Punto platform, the MiTo (type 955) is a three-door hatchback that launched in 2008.

What does the GAN GT add to a MiTo 1.4 MultiAir with 135 hp or 170 hp?
The catalog lists the 135 hp version at 175 hp and 268 Nm with the GAN GT, up from 135 hp and 206 Nm. On the 170 hp Quadrifoglio Verde the gain is 36 hp. Both are turbo engines, so the GAN GT applies, rated at up to 30% more power. Those are rated gains for this engine type, not a dyno result from your car.
Alfa Romeo MiTo tuner or flash tune: what stays untouched?
A flash tune rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit (ECU); a plug-in module works differently. The GAN module sits between the sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. Factory software, checksums and the flash counter stay as they were. The ECU software is never changed and you can remove the module at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
