What makes the Alfa Romeo Stelvio special
Alfa Romeo Stelvio tune: the 2.0 Turbo and the 2.2 diesel
The Stelvio has been sold in the U.S. since the 2018 model year. Its U.S. engine is a 2.0L turbo gas four-cylinder rated at 280 hp, the same hp figure as the 2.0 T 280 row in the catalog. European orders opened on January 18, 2017 with the First Edition and its 280 hp 2.0 Turbo. There has been one generation since, the Type 949, built on the Giorgio platform it shares with the Giulia. Facelifts followed for the 2020 and 2023 model years, first with a new interior and driver assistance systems, then with matrix LED headlights.
The engines split in two, and both halves are turbocharged: the 2.0 Turbo gas engine and the 2.2 Turbo Diesel. So every Stelvio engine takes the GAN GT, which covers all six engines in the catalog. The core versions are the 280 hp 2.0 Turbo with Q4 all-wheel drive and the diesel at 190 or 209 hp. The 280 hp 2.0 Turbo makes 400 Nm, and the 209 hp diesel was sold from February 2017.
One diesel, five outputs
The 2.2 diesel is one Family B engine, sold at 150, 160, 180, 190 and 209 hp. In the U.S. the Stelvio runs the 2.0L gas turbo, so the 2.2 diesel rows are for European-market cars. Like the gas engine, it is a common-rail unit paired with an eight-speed automatic.
Check your car’s year and output before you look up the figures. The 200 hp 2.0 Turbo has no separate Stelvio row; you find it under the Alfa Romeo Giulia as the 2.0T 200 hp.

Which Stelvio 2.2 D is mine: 150, 160, 180, 190 or 209 hp?
Use output and date together: the 150 and 180 hp versions ended in August 2018, the 160 hp ran until March 2020, and the 190 hp arrived in September 2018. The 209 hp version has been sold since February 2017.
How much power does a Stelvio 2.0 Turbo 280 hp tune add?
With the GAN GT, the 280 hp, 400 Nm gas engine goes to 328 hp and 468 Nm. Gas and diesel both take the GAN GT, which is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does the catalog cover the Stelvio Quadrifoglio?
No. The 2.9 V6 of the Quadrifoglio, at 510 hp and 520 hp from 2023, has no row in the catalog. In the U.S., the Quadrifoglio was sold through the 2024 model year.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
