What makes the Hyundai Coupe special
Hyundai Coupe tune: sporty looks, no turbo
None of the Hyundai Coupe's three catalog engines has a turbo: the 1.6 CVVT, the 2.0 CVVT and the 2.7 V6 are all naturally aspirated. A Hyundai Coupe performance chip therefore means the GAN GA+. The 2.7 V6 gains 20 hp and 29 Nm, from 167 hp (165 hp from 2007). This page covers the GK generation, built 2002 to 2009; the older RD is on the Hyundai Tiburon page. In the U.S., this car wore the Hyundai Tiburon badge, with GS, GT, SE and GT Limited trims on the 2003–2008 cars, so a Tiburon owner is looking at the same car.
Both U.S. engines, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the 2.7-liter V6, are naturally aspirated gas engines, so the GAN GA+ is the match. The catalog figures are European ratings; the U.S. Tiburon V6 is rated at 170 to 172 hp depending on year and the 2.0-liter four at 138 to 140 hp, so identify yours by engine size. The GK engines use a timing belt, so make sure it was changed on schedule.

How much power does the Coupe 2.0 gain from the GAN performance chip?
The 2.0 CVVT goes from 143 hp and 186 Nm to 160 hp and 208 Nm with the GAN GA+. On the 1.6 CVVT (105 hp), the same performance chip adds 13 hp and 17 Nm. The GAN GA+ adds up to 12% more power; the figures are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tune for a Hyundai Coupe?
Two methods apply to a Coupe: a flash tune rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit (ECU), while the GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter on your Coupe's ECU stay as they are. The ECU software is never changed and the module comes off at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
