What makes the Hyundai ix35 special
Hyundai ix35 tune: pull at highway speed
ADAC, Germany's motoring club, calls the 1.7 CRDi (116 hp) fine for daily driving but not quite at home at highway speed, and rates the gas versions as only partly suited to full loads or towing a trailer. In the U.S. the same vehicle is the Hyundai Tucson; the ix35 badge was never used there. The U.S. Tucson never came with the 1.7 CRDi or 2.0 CRDi diesels. A Hyundai ix35 performance chip splits by fuel: the GAN GT for the diesels, the GAN GA+ for the gas engines.
The 1.7 CRDi gains 35 hp and 77 Nm. The 2.0 CRDi with 136 hp gains 40 hp and 89 Nm, and the 2.0 CRDi with 184 hp gains 52 hp and 102 Nm. On the gas side, the 1.6 GDI (135 hp) gains 16 hp and 20 Nm, and the 2.0 (163 hp) gains 20 hp and 23 Nm. The U.S. Tucson's 2.4-liter was rated at 176 hp or 182 hp depending on model year, and both ratings have a row in the catalog under the Tucson.

Is a performance chip worth it on a gas ix35?
On the gas side the ix35 comes down to the 1.6 GDI (135 hp) and the 2.0 (163 hp). The naturally aspirated 1.6 GDI takes the GAN GA+, which adds up to 12% more power, so expect a smaller gain than on a diesel.
How much power does the ix35 2.0 CRDi 184 gain from a performance chip?
Factory output of 184 hp and 383 Nm becomes 236 hp and 485 Nm with the GAN GT. A turbodiesel like this belongs in the GAN GT line, rated at up to 30% more power; the figures are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
