Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.

Hyundai Kona tune: what changes
The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Hyundai Kona special
Hyundai Kona tuner: the 1.6 T-GDI in two calibrations
A Hyundai Kona tuner starts with one question: is your 1.6 T-GDI the 177 hp or the 198 hp version? Hyundai has sold the Kona in the U.S. since the 2018 model year. The Kona OS, the first generation, arrived in Europe in November 2017 and got its facelift in November 2020. June 2018 to November 2020 is the window for the 177 hp version, which has 265 Nm, all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DCT.
The November 2020 facelift lifted the engine to 198 hp with the same 265 Nm, and it continues in the Kona II. G4FJ and G4FP are the engine codes of the two calibrations, so year plus code tells you which one you own. The U.S. 1.6 turbo of 2018 to 2021 is rated at 175 hp, and the catalog's 1.6 GDI row lists the same 175; the table figure is metric, so that is the row to compare.
The 1.0 T-GDI, the Kona N and the hybrids
Behind the 1.0 T-GDI's 120 hp and 172 Nm sits a six-speed manual. The Kona II brings the 1.0 T-GDI back with 100 hp from August 2024, then 115 hp from August 2025. Neither the 100 hp nor the 115 hp version of the 1.0 T-GDI has a row in the catalog. The Kona N 2.0 T-GDI with 280 hp and 392 Nm has no separate Kona row: the same engine appears as the 2.0 N Performance of the Hyundai i30. The U.S. Kona N, sold for 2022 and 2023, has a 2.0 turbo rated at 276 hp, and it has no Kona row either.
The U.S. 1.6 turbo of 2024 and 2025 is rated at 190 hp, and that version has no row yet. The 1.6 CRDi with 136 hp and 320 Nm has no Kona row; look at the Hyundai Tucson's 1.6 CRDi, which is the same engine. No performance chip applies to the Kona Electric, which has no combustion engine. Europe has had the Kona II since April 2023, and it has no diesel.
Hyundai Kona tuning FAQ
Kona 1.6 T-GDI: 177 hp or 198 hp, which one is yours?
G4FJ is the 177 hp engine, built from June 2018 to November 2020. G4FP is the 198 hp engine, built since the November 2020 facelift.
What does a Kona 1.6 T-GDI tune add to the 177 hp version?
The 177 hp version moves from 265 Nm to 360 Nm and reaches 226 hp with the GAN GT. Turbo engines like this one are rated at up to 30% more power with the GAN GT. Those are catalog figures for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does the catalog list the Kona 1.0 T-GDI?
Yes, the catalog lists the 1.0 T-GDI with 120 hp and 172 Nm, without stating the year.
Is the 141 hp figure of the Kona Hybrid an engine output?
No. The 141 hp is the system output: the 1.6 GDI gas engine makes 105 hp and 147 Nm, and the electric motor adds the rest. The 141 hp shown for the 1.6 GDI in the catalog is that hybrid system output, not an engine output. The 175 hp version and the 2.0i with 149 hp belong to other markets.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
