About the generation

What makes the Infiniti Q50 special

Infiniti Q50 tune: the European engines come from Mercedes

In Europe the Q50 runs Mercedes engines, except for the hybrid and the 3.0t, which are Nissan units. The 2.2d diesel is the OM651 (170 hp, 400 Nm), and the 2.0t gas engine is the M274 (211 hp, 350 Nm). Pick your Q50 performance chip by engine: the 2.2d or the 2.0t. For a Q50 performance chip, both Mercedes engines take the GAN GT: the 2.2d goes from 170 hp to 218 hp, the 2.0t from 211 hp to 242 hp.

The 3.5 Hybrid is listed at 364 hp system output and the 3.0t at 405 hp. The U.S. 3.0t twin-turbo V6 was rated at 300 hp, or 400 hp in the Red Sport 400, and neither rating has a row in the catalog yet. The U.S. 3.7-liter V6 was rated at 328 hp, and that exact row is in the catalog.

The 3.0t is the twin-turbo Q50, listed at 405 hp. The 3.0t has no row in the catalog yet.

Infiniti has left Western Europe: does that change how the module works?

Infiniti announced its withdrawal from Western Europe in March 2019, and new car sales there ended in early 2020. In the U.S., the Q50 has been discontinued as well. Either way, the module works the same: the ECU software is never changed and it comes off at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
