What makes the Jaecoo J7 special
Jaecoo J7 tune: the same car as the Jaecoo 7
Europe drops the J: the car is sold there as the Jaecoo 7, so a Jaecoo J7 and a Jaecoo 7 are the same model. Jaecoo has no official U.S. sales, so the J7 is not a dealer-sold SUV here. Chinese buyers know the same car as the Chery Tansuo 06 or the Tiggo 7 High Energy. Jaecoo is Chery's export brand, and the J7 was its first model in Europe.
Built in Dalian on the T1X platform, it debuted in Shanghai in 2023 and arrived in Europe in 2024. The factory code is T1EJ. Italy got it in fall 2024 with gas only, other European markets followed from December 2024, and Germany sells it as well. It comes in one body style, a five-door C-segment crossover about 4.5 meters long.
Engines in Europe
Gas power comes from the 1.6 TGDI, a 1,598 cc Kunpeng engine making 147 hp and 275 Nm, with a seven-speed DCT and front- or all-wheel drive depending on the version. Descriptions from other markets mention versions with 186 to 197 hp, so confirm the output of your own car. Two hybrids exist: the plug-in SHS-P and the full hybrid SHS-H, which Europe has had since March 2026. Both use a 1.5 turbo gas engine.
The SHS-P pairs an electric motor with the 1.5 turbo and has a WLTP range of about 90 km. Outside the U.S., some J7 versions use a 1.6 turbo gas engine rated at 197 hp and the SHS hybrids use a 1.5 turbo gas engine; none of that is a confirmed U.S. spec.
