What makes the Kia K5 special
Kia K5 tune: the badge is not an engine
The first U.S. K5 lists a 1.6 turbo at 180 hp and, in the GT, a 2.5 turbo at 290 hp. Neither of those engines has a row in the catalog yet. The engines listed under K5 come from other generations, so the engine, not the badge, decides which GAN performance chip you need.
The one European engine row
The catalog's 2.0 T-GDI row, at 245 hp and 353 Nm, matches the European Optima IV (JF), built from October 2016 to August 2018. As a turbo engine, it takes the GAN GT and gains 42 hp and 60 Nm.
The other engines
The other rows come from the K5 range sold outside Europe: the 2.0 MPI at 150 or 160 hp and the 2.5 GDI at 194 hp and 246 Nm. All of them take the GAN GA+, adding 18 or 19 hp on the 2.0 MPI and 23 hp and 30 Nm on the 2.5 GDI. The 172 hp, 201 Nm row is the Nu 2.0 MPI of the Optima III (TF), and the GAN GA+ takes it to 193 hp and 225 Nm.

The catalog lists this engine at 245 hp and 353 Nm stock, and at 287 hp and 413 Nm with the GAN GT. On a turbo gas engine like this one, the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno result from your vehicle.
What does the GAN GA+ add to the K5 2.5 GDI with 194 hp?
It gains 23 hp and 30 Nm with the GAN GA+. On these engines, the GAN GA+ adds up to 12% more power. The 2.5 turbo of the U.S. K5 GT is a different engine, rated at 290 hp, and it has no row in the catalog yet.
How does a Kia K5 performance chip work without a flash tune?
The GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals, so the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and you can remove the module at any time.
Is the Kia K5 the same car as the Optima?
In the U.S., the K5 replaced the Optima. K5 is the global name of the sedan, while earlier generations were mostly sold in Europe as the Kia Optima. A trim name from another market doesn't change the figures either: a trim is equipment, not an engine.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
