What makes the Kia Rio III special
Kia Rio 3 tune: what the U.S. car has, and the European diesels
Kia sold the third-generation Rio in the U.S. for model years 2012 through 2017, as a sedan and a five-door hatchback. The U.S. Rio of this generation has a naturally aspirated 1.6 GDI four-cylinder rated at 138 hp, and the catalog has no row at that figure. No diesel or turbo engine was sold in the U.S. for this generation, so the diesel rows below are European. The European diesel range starts with a three-cylinder 1.1 CRDi of 1,120 cc, the smallest engine in the line.
The 1.1 CRDi (75 hp, 170 Nm) takes the GAN GT and gains 22 hp and 46 Nm. The 1.4 CRDi, 90 hp and 220 Nm, takes the GAN GT as well, gaining 27 hp and 66 Nm. Since January 2015 both diesels meet a stricter emissions standard and come in ISG start-stop versions.
The gas engines
The 1.2 CVVT is naturally aspirated and rated at 85 hp (84 hp from 2015); the catalog lists 87 hp, and the GAN GA+ adds 10 hp and 15 Nm. For a 2011 Rio, the 1.4 CVVT with 109 hp, built from June 2011, also takes the GAN GA+ and gains 13 hp and 16 Nm.

European Rio 1.1 CRDi, three cylinders: what does the GAN GT do for it?
The GAN GT takes the 1.1 CRDi from 75 hp and 170 Nm to 97 hp and 216 Nm. At 75 hp, the 1.1 CRDi is the weakest engine in the Rio 3 range. A turbodiesel is the engine type the GAN GT is rated for, at up to 30% more power; the figures are rated gains, not a dyno result from your car.
Which GAN performance chip fits the Rio 1.4 CVVT, and what about a U.S. Rio?
The 1.4 CVVT takes the GAN GA+; the catalog lists it at 107 hp and 135 Nm, while European cars are rated at 109 hp and 137 Nm. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power on naturally aspirated engines. A U.S. Rio is the 2012 through 2017 LX, EX or SX with a different engine, and that engine has no row in the catalog yet.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
