Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.
Same badge, different factory power outputs in this generation:
Kia Stonic tune: what changes
The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Kia Stonic special
Kia Stonic 1.0 T-GDI tune: 100 hp or 120 hp
The 1.0 T-GDI badge on the Stonic covers two engines, 120 hp and 100 hp, both with 172 Nm. Kia never offered the Stonic in the U.S., so match one here by its exact engine, not by the model name. The 120 hp engine arrived with the car in 2017, and the 100 hp version followed from July 2019 until 2020. Output is what counts for the performance chip, so check your car's hp and ignore the badge.
Both versions stop in August 2020 in the catalog, which is when the facelift came. The facelift also turned the 120 hp version into a 48-volt mild hybrid. For DCT cars with that hybrid system, published tables show 200 Nm rather than 172 Nm.
The other Stonic engines
The early cars used the 1.6 CRDi (110 hp, 260 Nm), and Kia pulled the diesel from the European range at the 2020 facelift. The later 1.6 CRDi at 116 hp and 280 Nm isn't listed under the Stonic: the same engine is the 1.6 CRDI of the Kia Sportage V. The 136 hp version, also with 280 Nm, is missing here too: the same engine is the 1.6 CRDi of the Hyundai i30 III. The gas engines of 2017 to 2020 are the 1.2 at 84 hp and 122 Nm and the 1.4 at 100 hp and 133 Nm.
The 1.4 was dropped at the facelift; the 1.2 and the 1.0 T-GDI carried on. The 1.2 makes 118 Nm after the facelift, so its catalog figures suit the earlier cars. Add the GAN GA+ to the 100 hp 1.4 and you get 112 hp and 149 Nm. In the catalog you won't find the 115 hp 1.0 T-GDI.
Kia Stonic tuning FAQ
Which row fits my Stonic 1.0 T-GDI?
Check your car's output, 100 hp or 120 hp, and confirm it was built before August 2020.
How much power does a Stonic performance chip add on the 1.0 T-GDI?
The catalog shows 129 hp and 222 Nm with the GAN GT for the 100 hp version, which has 172 Nm stock. The 120 hp version goes to 155 hp and 222 Nm in the catalog. On the T-GDI and the diesel, the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power. The other gas engines take the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Why do some 1.0 T-GDI Stonics list 200 Nm and others 172 Nm?
Published tables give 200 Nm for the DCT versions with the mild hybrid. The catalog covers cars built up to August 2020 and uses 172 Nm.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
