What makes the MG 3 special
MG3 tune: the gas car of 2013 to 2024
The catalog covers the gas MG3 built from 2013 to 2024; in 2024 Europe received it as a hybrid. The MG3 launched in September 2013 and was assembled until 2016. MG has not sold new cars in the U.S. since the MGB ended in 1980, and the MG3 was never officially sold in the U.S. There is no official U.S. badge or model year for the MG3, so check the engine of your own car. An MG3 performance chip is matched to the 1.5 VTi-Tech: 106 hp and 135 Nm with a five-speed manual.
Its torque peak of 135 Nm arrives at 4500 rpm. It was the mainstream MG3 engine and it is naturally aspirated. In 2016 it moved to Euro 6 as the VTi-Tech with Start-Stop, and the 2018 facelift added a new interior and an 8-inch screen. The rarer 1.3 VTi-Tech makes 93 hp and 118 Nm; the catalog lists it at 92 hp. Every MG3 engine in the catalog goes with the GAN GA+.
Engines from the Chinese market
The catalog's 87 hp version is the Chinese 1.3 of 2011 and 2012, which made 88 hp and 117 Nm. The 109 hp version is the Chinese 1.5 with 135 Nm; the standard car makes 106 hp.
The 2024 cars: Hybrid+ and the new gas engine
Shown in Geneva in February 2024, the third-generation MG3 reached Europe in spring 2024. The Hybrid+ combines a 1.5 gas engine of 102 hp with a 136 hp electric motor, for 194 to 195 hp in total. A gas 1.5 with 116 hp and 148 Nm followed in March 2025. Neither one is in the catalog.

The GAN GA+ takes the 106 hp 1.5 to 119 hp. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power; these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Which row is the MG3 1.3 VTi-Tech with 93 hp?
Pick the 92 hp, 118 Nm version. The catalog labels it 1.0i, but it is the 1.3 VTi-Tech.
Are the MG3 Hybrid+ and the 116 hp gas engine in the catalog?
No. Neither the Hybrid+ nor the 116 hp gas engine of 2024 has a row.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
