Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.
Same badge, different factory power outputs in this generation:
MG ZS tune: what changes
More power and torque with no ECU flash and no new parts – the module only adjusts the engine sensor signals. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the MG ZS special
MG ZS tune: from November 2017 to 2025
In November 2017 the MG ZS arrived with two engines: the 1.5 VTi-Tech at 106 hp and 141 Nm, and the 1.0 T-GDI at 111 hp and 160 Nm. A facelift followed in July 2020. The MG ZS was never officially sold in the U.S. MG announced the ZS at the Guangzhou show in 2016, and Chinese buyers got it in March 2017. Year matters as much as engine for an MG ZS tune: the 1.5 also exists in a Chinese calibration, so the module is matched to both. The 1.5 VTi-Tech is naturally aspirated and drives the front wheels through a five-speed manual.
That engine is the 106 hp row in the catalog. In China, the 1.0 turbo makes 125 hp and 175 Nm, and the 120 hp 1.5 is the Chinese calibration of the same engine. Australia and other non-European markets got the ZST's 1.3 Turbo (156 to 163 hp, 230 Nm); it has no row in the catalog. The facelift for Chinese cars came in September 2019. SAIC developed the 1.0 T-GDI, a three-cylinder turbo, with GM; it came with a six-speed manual or automatic.
The second generation: ZS II
In fall 2024 the ZS II arrived in Europe, on the same engines as the MG3. Since early 2025 the ZS II has a naturally aspirated 1.5 gas engine with 116 hp and 150 Nm, and the catalog lists it as the 116 hp version. There is no row for the Hybrid+. In the catalog, every ZS engine takes the GAN GA+.
MG ZS tuning FAQ
MG ZS performance chip: how much more power does the 1.5 get?
The GAN GA+ takes the 116 hp ZS II to 130 hp and 168 Nm, and the same module also covers the 106 hp engine of the first generation. Rated gain for the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Which figures apply to the ZS II with the 116 hp gas engine?
Use the 116 hp figures with the GAN GA+, not those of the 106 hp first-generation engine; the 1.5 with 116 hp has been sold since early 2025.
Is the ZS 1.0 T-GDI in the catalog?
No. The 1.0 T-GDI, 111 hp and 160 Nm, has no row.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
