About the generation

What makes the Peugeot 3008 special

Peugeot 3008 performance chip: the range changed in October 2016

Peugeot has never officially sold the 3008 in the U.S., so it has only a European engine range. The second 3008 reached European dealers on October 29, 2016 and was named European Car of the Year 2017, the first SUV to win it. The first generation, a compact MPV with crossover looks, had been sold since 2009 and was built until October 2016.

The engine lineup changed completely with the new car: the second 3008 has no 1.6 VTi 120 and no 1.6 HDi 109 or 112. That makes the generation the first thing to pin down for 3008 tuning, then the engine that gets the performance chip. There are no U.S. trim names or model years for the 3008, so identify the engine by its code and hp.

First generation: VTi, THP and HDi

The first-generation gas 3008 had the 1.6 VTi with 120 hp and 160 Nm until June 2015, and it takes the GAN GA+. The 1.6 THP delivers 156 hp and 240 Nm from September 2009, and 165 hp from July 2015. The 1.6 HDi started at 109 hp and 240 Nm in 2009, moved to 112 hp and then 114 hp, and the BlueHDi makes 120 hp and 300 Nm.

The 2.0 HDi FAP is offered at 150 hp or 163 hp, both with 340 Nm. The HYbrid4 pairs the 163 hp diesel with a 37 hp electric motor on the rear axle for 200 hp in total and all-wheel drive. The diesels and the THP take the GAN GT.

Second generation: PureTech and BlueHDi

The 3008 II's 1.2 PureTech 130 makes 230 Nm and has been in production since October 2016; the catalog lists it at 131 hp. The 2.0 BlueHDi with 177 hp and 400 Nm was built from October 2016 to September 2020 and comes with an automatic transmission. The 1.6 BlueHDi 120 stayed in production until February 2018.

The 1.5 BlueHDi 130 has its row on the Peugeot 3008 II page. The 2024 third generation, with mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids and the electric E-3008, has no rows in the catalog.

3008 2.0 BlueHDi tune: how much power do you gain?

The 177 hp version goes to 214 hp and 484 Nm. The GAN GT line is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

3008 I with the 2.0 HDi at 150 or 163 hp: which one is mine?

Read the output off your registration papers. Both the 150 hp and the 163 hp car make 340 Nm, and both take the GAN GT.

Peugeot 3008 performance chip: does the top trim change the module?

No. The trim badge doesn't pick the tuner, the engine does, so check the hp and the model year on your registration papers.

Plug-and-play tuner or flash tune on a Peugeot 3008?

A plug-and-play performance chip leaves the factory software in the engine control unit alone, while a flash tune replaces it. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
