What makes the Peugeot 307 special

Peugeot 307 performance chip: what to check on the engine

Peugeot never officially sold the 307 in the U.S. On the 1.6 HDi rated at 110 hp, leaking injector seals let combustion gases escape, and the carbon deposits they leave can foul the oil and starve the turbocharger of lubrication. The 1.6 16V gas engine built before July 2005 could idle roughly and hesitate under throttle, and the cure was a software update to the engine controller. A Peugeot 307 performance chip depends on the engine: the HDi diesels take the GAN GT, and the gas engines take the GAN GA+.

Can a performance chip repair a fault on a 307 HDi?

No. The module doesn't fix faults, and it adjusts the engine sensor signals rather than the ECU program. On the 2.0 HDi 110, the dual-mass flywheel and the clutch fail most often, and the FAP particulate filter, EGR valve, injectors and turbo can cause trouble too. A performance chip doesn't replace a worn part, so have these checked before you install it.

What does the GAN GT add to the Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi at 136 hp?

The 2.0 HDi 136 goes from 136 hp and 320 Nm to 176 hp and 409 Nm with the GAN GT. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not dyno results from your own car. For diesels, GAN states up to 30% with the GAN GT.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
