Not sure which engine you have?

The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.

Peugeot 508 tune: what changes

The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Peugeot 508 special

Peugeot 508 tune: which 2.0 HDi is in your car?

Peugeot never officially sold the 508 in the U.S., so every 508 has a European engine. Start with which of four 2.0 HDi versions you have, since that decides how the 508 is tuned. A performance chip is matched by the engine code and by the year of the car: before or after July 2015. On the first-generation 508 the 2.0 HDi makes either 140 hp and 320 Nm or 163 hp and 340 Nm. The BlueHDi arrived in April 2014 with 150 hp and 370 Nm or 180 hp and 400 Nm. The 140 hp and 163 hp engines were built until July 2015, and the BlueHDi versions until March 2018. All of these diesels work with the GAN GT.

City and short-trip driving clogs a diesel particulate filter, and a performance chip doesn't replace that upkeep. The 2.2 HDi makes 204 hp and 450 Nm and was sold from October 2010 to April 2015. The all-wheel-drive HYbrid4 combines a 163 hp, 300 Nm 2.0 HDi with a 37 hp electric motor, for 200 hp in total. The first RXH wagon (2012 to 2014) uses the same setup, and the catalog lists it after the 163 hp diesel. After the 2014 facelift the RXH was also offered with the 2.0 BlueHDi 180 and front-wheel drive.

Smaller diesels and gas engines

The 1.6 HDi is rated at 112 to 115 hp and 270 Nm; the 1.6 BlueHDi, from April 2015, at 120 hp and 300 Nm. Nearly every first-generation 508 was a diesel. Gas meant the 1.6 alone: the VTi at 120 hp until August 2014, and the THP at 156 hp, which went to 165 hp from August 2014.

The GAN GA+ takes the VTi 120, while the GAN GT takes the THP engines. Check the timing chain on a 1.6 THP before you fit a performance chip; chain wear is a known concern on that engine.

Second generation: fastback and SW

The 508 II came out as a fastback in fall 2018 and as an SW in June 2019, and production ended in May 2025. Its diesels are the 1.5 BlueHDi and the 2.0 BlueHDi, which makes 163 hp or 177 hp and 400 Nm. The catalog has no rows for the 2.0 BlueHDi 163, the 1.6 PureTech at 181 or 225 hp, or the plug-in hybrids.

The 1.5 BlueHDi has no row of its own under the 508, but the same engine is listed as the 1.5 BlueHDi 130 of the Peugeot 3008. The same goes for the 1.2 PureTech 130 gas engine, offered from 2020: look for it as the 1.2 PureTech 130 of the Peugeot 208.

FAQ

Peugeot 508 tuning FAQ

508 2.0 HDi 163 performance chip: how much more power?

The GAN GT takes the 163 hp engine to 197 hp and 411 Nm. The GAN GT line is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Which performance chip fits the 508 HYbrid4 or RXH?

For the HYbrid4, the catalog goes by the 163 hp, 300 Nm diesel, which makes 200 hp together with the 37 hp electric motor. An RXH with the 2.0 BlueHDi 180 has its own row on this page, listed as the 2.0 HDI 180 RXH at 181 hp.

Does the catalog cover the 508 II 2.0 BlueHDi with 177 hp?

Yes. The 177 hp BlueHDi (400 Nm) takes the GAN GT, and its row is on this page.

Plug-and-play tuner or flash tune on a Peugeot 508?

A flash tune replaces the factory software in the engine control unit. A plug-and-play performance chip leaves that software exactly as it was. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
