What makes the Renault Captur special
Renault Captur performance chip: 0.9 TCe, TCe 120 and TCe 150 are three different engines
Renault has never officially sold the Captur in the U.S. It has no U.S. trim or model-year naming, so identify it by engine, not by badge. Start with the engine: three cylinders, 898 cc and 90 hp make the 0.9 TCe. Tuning a Captur I starts with telling its three gas engines apart. The TCe 120 is a 1.2-liter four-cylinder (H5Ft). The TCe 150 is a 1.3-liter (H5Ht) making 150 hp from 2018.
In the catalog the 1.2 TCe shows up as the 1.2T eTHP, and it takes the GAN GT. A 1.3-liter TCe 130 joined the range in 2018 to 2019. The diesels are the 1.5 dCi 90 (90 hp, 220 Nm) and, from 2015, the dCi 110 (110 hp, 260 Nm). The Captur I (J87) arrived in 2013, got a facelift in 2017 and stayed in production until 2019.
The Captur II: engines since 2019
The Captur II arrived in 2019 and was refreshed in 2024. On the gas side it runs from the 1.0 TCe, at 91 hp or 100 hp, up to the 1.3 TCe with as much as 160 hp. The 2020-2022 1.3 TCe 155 delivers 270 Nm, and the catalog pairs that engine with the GAN GT. The diesel is the 1.5 Blue dCi with 115 hp, offered in 2020.
The 1.5 Blue dCi 115 has no row of its own under the Captur; the same engine is listed as the dCi 115 of the Renault Mégane IV. The 1.0 TCe, the mild hybrids and the E-Tech hybrids have no rows in the catalog. Every Captur TCe and dCi engine in the catalog takes the GAN GT.

Is there a Renault Captur tuner for the 0.9 TCe?
The catalog has no row for the 0.9 TCe under the Captur; the same engine is listed as the 0.9T of the Smart ForFour. The 0.9 TCe has three cylinders and the TCe 120 has four, so what is listed for the 1.2 TCe does not apply to it.
How much does a Captur 1.5 dCi 90 or 110 gain with the GAN GT?
The dCi 90 (220 Nm) goes to 117 hp and 280 Nm, and the dCi 110 (260 Nm) goes to 143 hp and 332 Nm. On a turbo diesel the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tune on a Captur dCi?
The performance chip sits between the engine sensors and the ECU, so the ECU simply receives adjusted signals. A flash tune rewrites the software; the GAN module leaves the factory software, the checksums and the flash counter alone. Take the module off and no traces remain, because nothing is ever written to the ECU.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
