What makes the Renault Koleos special
Renault Koleos performance chip: 2.0 dCi with 150 hp or 173 hp?
Renault never officially sold the Koleos in the U.S. Two first-generation Koleos with a 2.0 dCi badge can differ in power: the diesel came as a 150 hp and a 173 hp version. For Koleos tuning, go by the output of your diesel, not by the badge. As a 4x4, the 150 hp car is listed in the catalog with 320 Nm. With 4x4 drive, including an automatic, the 173 hp car makes 360 Nm.
It is the same M9R engine with two factory setups. The catalog lists them separately, and both take the GAN GT. Production of both diesels ran from 2008 through 2015. In the Koleos II the same M9R makes 177 hp and 380 Nm, paired with 4x4 and the X-Tronic CVT. Front-wheel drive or 4x4 is available on the Koleos II. A Koleos has no U.S. trim or model years, so describe the car by generation, engine and drive.
Gas engine and the two generations
Production of the first Koleos began in June 2008; facelifts followed in 2011 and 2013. Gas power is the 2.5 16V at 171 hp and 226 Nm; the diesels are the two 2.0 dCi versions. The 2.5 gas engine takes the GAN GA+. Production of the Koleos II started in November 2016, with a facelift in April 2019, and ended in September 2023. The rest of its range: the 1.6 dCi (130 hp), the 1.7 Blue dCi (150 hp), the 2.0 Blue dCi and the 1.3 TCe (158 hp).
Looking for the 1.6 dCi 130? It is listed as the 1.6 dCi 130 of the Renault Kadjar, not under the Koleos. The 1.7 Blue dCi (150 hp) is not under the Koleos either; look for it as the 1.7 dCi of the Nissan X-Trail III. Find the 177 hp 2.0 Blue dCi on this page as the 2.0 dCi CVT 4x4. Is the Koleos II 2.0 dCi at 177 hp with the CVT covered?
Yes. The 177 hp, 380 Nm diesel with the X-Tronic CVT takes the GAN GT.
Which Renault Koleos is covered: a 2012 or a 2017?
A 2012 Koleos is a first-generation car, with the two 2.0 dCi versions and the 2.5 gas engine. A 2017 Koleos is a second-generation car, and its 2.0 dCi at 177 hp is covered.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
