What makes the Skoda Yeti special

Skoda Yeti tune: what to check first

Every diesel Yeti, 2.0 TDI included, has a particulate filter, which needs regular longer runs at speed. On the gas side, belt-driven EA211 engines replaced the EA111 1.2 TSI 105 and 1.4 TSI 122 from June 2015. Škoda never sold the Yeti in the U.S., so any Yeti here is a European-market car.

A Skoda Yeti tuner depends on your engine. Every TSI and TDI engine in the catalog, from the 1.2 TSI to the 2.0 TDI with 170 hp, takes the GAN GT. All of those engines are turbocharged.

Yeti 2.0 TDI tune: what does the GAN GT add to the 140 hp?

The 140 hp diesel, rated at 140 hp and 320 Nm stock, reaches 178 hp and 404 Nm with the GAN GT. Treat these as the stated gains for this engine type, not dyno results from your car. On turbo engines, the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power.

The EA111 timing chain on the Yeti: what should I check first?

Timing-chain stretch is a known weak spot of the early EA111 1.2 TSI, built until about June 2011, and a rattle on a cold start can point to a worn chain or tensioner. A performance chip doesn't repair worn parts, so have the chain inspected before you fit it. With the module fitted, the engine's factory protections stay active and the factory software isn't changed.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
