Each engine gets its own performance chip: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per performance chip and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.

Volvo XC70 tune: what changes
The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Volvo XC70 special
Volvo XC70 tune: the D5 and its year
Volvo sold the XC70 in the U.S. through 2016, badged V70 XC at first and XC70 from the 2003 model year. The U.S. lineup was predominantly gasoline, so treat the D5 and the other diesel rows as European engines. There are four D5 outputs and four start dates: 163 hp from July 2002, 185 hp from December 2005, 205 hp from April 2009 and 215 hp from May 2011. So the year of your car comes first, since the module is matched to the D5 of that year. Under the hood the D5 is a turbocharged five-cylinder 2.4 diesel, and until November 2005 it made 163 hp and 340 Nm.
The particulate filter arrived with the 185 hp version, which makes 400 Nm. The 205 hp and 215 hp D5s both make 420 Nm, though the 215 hp car with the automatic gets 440 Nm from June 2011. The first XC70, the V70 XC, dates from 2000, and the second generation ran from 2007 to May 2016. The second generation also had the 2.4D DRIVe (175 hp, 420 Nm) between April 2009 and April 2010. The 2.0 D3, a front-wheel-drive diesel at 163 hp and 400 Nm, ran from April 2010 to June 2013.
Gas engines and the other versions
Gas engines: the 2.4T (200 hp, 285 Nm) until July 2002 and the 2.5T (210 hp, 320 Nm) until June 2007. The 3.2 six-cylinder followed from August 2007 to January 2008, at 238 hp and 320 Nm. In the catalog the 2.5T takes the GAN GT, and the 2.4T and the 3.2 take the GAN GA+. The final U.S. XC70s, the T5 Drive-E at 240 hp and the T5 AWD at 250 hp, have no row in the catalog yet.
You won't find the AWD D3 and D4 (163 and 181 hp, 420 Nm) or the Drive-E T5 at 245 hp listed separately for the XC70; they appear as the 2.4 D3 AWD, the 2.4 D4 AWD and the 245 hp 2.0 T5 of the Volvo XC60. Look for the T6 at 304 hp and 440 Nm under the 3.0i of the Volvo S80, since the XC70 doesn't list it. No catalog row exists for the T6 at 285 hp or the front-wheel-drive D4 (181 hp, 400 Nm).
Volvo XC70 tuning FAQ
XC70 D5 performance chip: what does the 215 hp car gain?
The 215 hp D5 starts from 215 hp and 420 Nm and reaches 256 hp and 528 Nm with the GAN GT. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power; the GAN GA+, for the 2.4T and the 3.2, at up to 12%. Those are ratings for the engine type, not dyno results from your own car.
Which version do I pick for the XC70 2.0 D3 at 163 hp?
Take the 2.0 D3, 163 hp and 400 Nm: the front-wheel-drive diesel built between April 2010 and June 2013.
Flash tune or plug-in module for the XC70 D5?
A plug-in module doesn't flash anything: it sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. Factory software, checksums and the flash counter all stay as they are with the module fitted.
Which GAN module fits the XC70 2.5T at 210 hp and the 2.4T at 200 hp?
Catalog fit: the GAN GT for the 2.5T (shown at 209 hp, against the factory 210 hp and 320 Nm) and the GAN GA+ for the 2.4T at 200 hp and 285 Nm. For a U.S. 2.5T, the catalog's 209 hp row is the nearest match and not the exact U.S. stock figure.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
