What makes the Volkswagen CC special

VW CC tune: what the U.S. car shares with the Passat CC

VW sold the CC in the U.S. for the 2009 through 2017 model years, and U.S. listings simply call it the VW CC. The 2.0T, rated at 200 hp, was offered throughout that run. A naturally aspirated 3.6 VR6 was offered too, but it was dropped for 2017 and has no row in the CC catalog yet. The Passat CC and the CC are one car: the coupe was the Passat CC from 2008 and became the CC after the facelift of February 2012.

It is a four-door coupe on the Passat B6 platform. Production ended in November 2016 and the Arteon took over. In the European-market lineup, the 1.4 TSI Twincharger replaced the 1.8 TSI with 160 hp from October 2012. The EA189 diesels with 140, 170 and 177 hp gave way to the EA288 with 150 and 184 hp. For a Passat CC tuner, the catalog pairs those diesels, the 1.8 TSI and the 1.4 TSI with the GAN GT.

How much power does a VW CC performance chip add, for example to the 2.0 TDI with 170 hp?

The U.S. 2.0T is rated at 200 hp, so look for that hp figure in the CC table to see its exact gain. For example, the European 2.0 TDI with 170 hp and 350 Nm goes to 204 hp and 411 Nm with the GAN GT. The GAN GT line is rated at up to 30% more power. Those are stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

What does the GAN GT add to a CC 1.4 TSI with 160 hp?

On the Twincharger, 160 hp and 240 Nm in stock form, the GAN GT lifts output to 206 hp and 312 Nm. Any turbocharged CC engine takes the GAN GT or GAN GTL.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
