What makes the Volkswagen Up special
VW up tune for imports: one three-cylinder, three cars
VW never sold the up in the U.S., so any up here is a European-market car with no U.S. trim names, model years or ratings. The catalog engines are European, so match yours by engine code and hp. The VW up shares its body and engine with the SEAT Mii and the Å koda Citigo. Every gas up runs a three-cylinder 1.0-liter engine from the EA211 family. A VW up 1.0 tuner starts with the catalog's 1.0 MPI at 60 or 75 hp. A 65 hp 1.0 MPI followed in August 2020. The 90 hp 1.0 TSI ran from 2016 to 2019, and the 68 hp bi-fuel EcoFuel burns CNG and gas. The 60 hp engine was built from October 2011 to August 2020, and the 75 hp engine from October 2011 to July 2019.
The 68 hp EcoFuel was built from November 2012 to October 2023. Trims are take up, move up, high up and, as a five-door only since 2013, cross up. Transmission choices are a five-speed manual and, from June 2012, the automated ASG, which the take up doesn't get. Production began in Bratislava in December 2011. The 2016 facelift added LED daytime running lights and the turbocharged engine. The gas up stayed in production until 2023. VW showed the 115 hp up GTI at the Wörthersee in May 2017 and delivered it from January 2018 to October 2023.

The 75 hp 1.0 MPI with 95 Nm reaches 84 hp and 106 Nm with the GAN GA+. Read up to 12% more power as the GAN GA+'s stated gain for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
What to expect from a plug-in performance chip on a 1.0 MPI
Same setup here: the module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU, and the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. The ECU software is never changed and the module comes off at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved.
Is the VW up GTI covered by a performance chip?
Not on its own page. The 1.0 TSI GTI with 115 hp and 200 Nm is the same engine as the 1.0 TSI of the VW Golf VII.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
