What makes the BMW X5 E70 special
BMW X5 E70 tune: the engine decides, not the E70 code
U.S. X5s of this generation wore the 3.0si and 4.8i badges at launch, then the xDrive30i, xDrive35i, xDrive48i, xDrive50i and xDrive35d badges, plus the X5 M. Because E70 covers every version from 2006 to 2013, the right GAN module depends on the engine and its number of turbochargers. Two European diesels in the X5 look alike from the outside and differ underneath. The xDrive40d makes 306 hp and 600 Nm from two turbos, and the M50d makes 381 hp and 740 Nm from three. The M50d came in July 2012, after the June 2010 facelift that brought the N57 diesels along with the xDrive35i and xDrive50i gas engines. Before the facelift the diesels were the M57 with 235 hp and 286 hp.
The xDrive30d with 245 hp and 540 Nm runs a single turbo. The 3.0si at 272 hp and the 4.8i at 355 hp are naturally aspirated gas engines, and both take the GAN GA+. The U.S. xDrive48i is the naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 behind that 4.8i row. The U.S. xDrive35i at 300 hp and xDrive50i at 400 hp are the xDrive35i row at 306 hp and the xDrive50i row at 408 hp. The X5 M carries the twin-turbo S63 V8 with 555 hp, built from July 2009. The U.S. X5 M carries the same 555 hp rating.

How much more power does the BMW X5 M E70 get from a GAN GT performance chip?
The module takes it from 555 hp and 680 Nm to 649 hp and 796 Nm. Gains are stated for the engine type, not measured on your car.
GAN module or flash tune on a BMW X5 E70, and what about the drivetrain?
A flash tune replaces the factory software in the engine control unit, and a GAN performance chip leaves that software alone. The module doesn't reprogram the transmission. The ECU software is never changed and the module can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
