What makes the Cupra Formentor special

Cupra Formentor tune: engines shared with Golf and Audi

Choose the GAN module for your Cupra Formentor by its engine; the badge tells you little. Cupra has not sold the Formentor through U.S. dealers, so one here is a European-market car that keeps its Cupra Formentor name and has no U.S. trim or model-year structure. The 2.0 TSI VZ, at 310 hp and 400 Nm, is an EA888 evo4 with the code DNFB; the Audi S3 8Y uses it too.

A 2.0 TSI with 245 hp and 370 Nm is also offered, and the VZ5 carries the 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder at 390 hp. Diesel buyers have the 2.0 TDI at 150 hp. The e-Hybrid combines a 1.4 TSI with an electric motor, and the system makes 204 or 245 hp. Every engine here takes the GAN GT: the 2.0 TSI, the VZ5, the 2.0 TDI and the e-Hybrid. For the e-Hybrid, the figures describe its 1.4 TSI engine only, at 150 hp and 250 Nm.

Formentor 2.0 TSI 245 tune: what does the GAN GT add?

A 245 hp Formentor with the GAN GT reaches 287 hp and 433 Nm, up from 370 Nm. Those are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno result for your car. For a turbo engine, GAN’s rating for the GAN GT is up to 30% more power.

Does the Formentor 1.5 TSI, the 2.0 TSI 190 or the 204 hp e-Hybrid have a module?

The 204 hp e-Hybrid is covered by the 1.4 Hybrid 245 row on this page, since both use the same engine. The 1.5 TSI 150 has no Formentor row of its own; look under the 1.5 TSI of the VW T-Roc, which is the same engine. For the 2.0 TSI 190, check the Cupra Leon, whose 2.0 TSI is the same engine.

Formentor flash tune or plug-in module: what stays untouched?

A flash tune replaces the factory calibration. The GAN module doesn’t: it plugs into the factory connectors and unplugs in about a minute.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
