Cupra Formentor performance chip: how much does a VZ 310 gain from the GAN GT?
The 310 hp VZ 4Drive goes from 310 hp and 400 Nm to 363 hp and 468 Nm with the GAN GT. The catalog also covers the 245 hp 2.0 TSI, so go by your car's stock figure. Those are the catalog gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Can the five-cylinder Formentor VZ5 take a GAN module?
The VZ5 runs the Audi RS 3's 2.5 TSI, an EA855 engine at 390 hp, in a limited run of 7,000 cars. Yes, the catalog covers it: the 390 hp VZ5 takes the GAN GT.
Is a Cupra Ateca built before November 2020 different from one built after?
No. The Ateca has a single engine, the 2.0 TSI at 300 hp, so it's the same car on both sides of that date. The catalog splits the Ateca at November 2020, although the facelift was shown in June 2020, and the figures are identical on both sides.
Plug-in performance chip or flash tune on a Cupra 2.0 TSI?
The difference is one thing: a flash tune rewrites the factory software, while the GAN performance chip sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched, and the engine keeps its factory protections. The ECU software is never changed, so your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can come off at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Cupra factory warranty?
No. The module doesn’t change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your factory warranty is preserved. On top of that, GAN gives its own engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.

A flash tuner rewrites the maps in your ECU, and the flash counter records it. The GAN module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Cupra engines: what to know before you tune
Cupra Formentor tune: every Cupra is already the hot version
Cupra has no retail presence in the U.S., so the Formentor, Ateca and Leon aren't sold here. They carry European badges only, and VZ comes from the Spanish veloz. A date sets the scene: Cupra has been a brand in its own right since January 2018, and before that it was SEAT's sporty line. The Cupra Ateca of 2018 came first, the Leon followed in February 2020, and the 2020 Formentor was the first Cupra with no SEAT twin. The name comes from Cup Racing.
The catalog covers three Cupra models: the Formentor, the Ateca and the Leon. Neither electric model, the Born (2021) or the Tavascan (2023), is in the catalog. VZ, short for veloz, marks the top trim.
Formentor engines, 245 to 390 hp
Martorell builds the Formentor on the MQB evo platform, shared with the Leon IV and the Golf VIII. Its 2.0 TSI makes 245 hp in the VZ and 310 hp in the VZ 4Drive. The VZ5 tops the range with the Audi RS 3's five-cylinder 2.5 TSI at 390 hp, limited to 7,000 cars. A 2.0 TDI at 150 hp completes the Formentor engines in the catalog. The market behind it is big. Germany registered 17,606 Formentors in 2021, 32,638 in 2022 (the peak), 30,078 in 2023 and 29,406 in 2024.
Other Formentor engines: a 1.5 TSI at 150 hp, a 2.0 TSI 4Drive at 190 hp and a 1.4 e-Hybrid. The 1.5 TSI at 150 hp has no separate Formentor row. Look under the VW T-Roc 1.5 TSI for the same engine. The 190 hp 2.0 TSI 4Drive has no Formentor row either; the same engine sits under the Cupra Leon 2.0 TSI. The 1.4 e-Hybrid does have a row on the Cupra Formentor page. The July 2024 facelift added a 2.0 TSI VZ 4Drive at 333 hp, and that engine is not in the catalog.

Cupra Ateca and Leon
The Cupra Ateca has one engine: the 2.0 TSI at 300 hp, with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG. In 2024 the Terramar joined the Cupra lineup. The 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TDI go with the regular SEAT Ateca, not the Cupra.
The Leon comes as a hatchback or a Sportstourer wagon. The Cupra Leon is the SEAT Leon IV (KL) under the Cupra badge, and the earlier SEAT Leon Cupra (5F) ran from 2014 to 2020. The catalog has one engine for the Cupra Leon, the 2.0 TSI at 190 hp, sold in Germany from October 2022 to December 2023. The turbo gasoline engines and the 2.0 TDI in the catalog take the GAN GT, with up to 30% more power.
