About the generation

What makes the Geely Emgrand special

Geely Emgrand tune: an import with no U.S. dealer network

Geely hasn't marketed the Emgrand in the U.S., so any car here is a non-U.S.-market car; confirm its exact engine, ECU and fuel requirement before you order a performance chip. The first-generation car is also sold abroad as the Emgrand EC7, so check which one you have. Geely once planned a 2012 launch of the Emgrand EC7 in Europe, put it on hold, and the car never reached the EU. An Emgrand performance chip is therefore a question for cars from other markets, fitted with Mitsubishi 1.5 and 1.8 engines and, from 2014, a 1.3 turbo.

The rows here cover the EC7's 1.5i and 1.8i, and both take the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power. The 1.3 turbo from 2014 is not in the catalog. The fourth generation, the SS11 of 2021, isn't in the catalog either. Overseas 1.5 Emgrand listings do not agree on output, from 103 hp to 120 hp, so go by your VIN and engine code, not the model name.

What does the GAN GA+ add to the Emgrand 1.8i with 137 hp?

The 1.8i makes 137 hp and 172 Nm as delivered, and the GAN GA+ takes it to 153 hp and 193 Nm. Those are catalog figures for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Is the Emgrand SS11 with a turbo engine covered?

No. Proton's S70 uses the SS11 base with a 150 hp 1.5 turbo, but the catalog lists no turbo Emgrand.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
