Each engine gets its own performance chip: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per performance chip and include the current discount.

Not sure which engine you have?

The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.

GAN tuning module for the Jeep Compass

Jeep Compass tune: what changes

The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Jeep Compass special

Jeep Compass tune: three diesels, three names, one catalog

The catalog lists three Compass diesels under three names: the 2.0 CRD from Volkswagen, the 2.2 CRD from Mercedes and the 2.0 MultiJet from Fiat. Match the performance chip to the engine under the hood. The badge doesn't matter. In the U.S., the Compass has been sold new since the 2007 model year and runs on gas, so these diesels are for cars from other markets. The MK of November 2006, the first Compass, ran the Volkswagen 2.0 PD TDI (code BYL): 140 hp, 310 Nm, and four-wheel drive from April 2007.

The May 2011 facelift switched the diesel to the Mercedes OM651, the 2.2 CRD: 136 hp with front-wheel drive or 163 hp with four-wheel drive, 320 Nm either way. Fiat's 2.0 MultiJet, 140 hp or 170 hp with 350 Nm, powers the second Compass, the MP built in Melfi from 2017. It has four-wheel drive and was sold until July 2020. Catalog names differ by maker: Volkswagen is the 2.0 CRD PD, Mercedes the 2.2 CRD, and the Fiat diesels the 2.0 CRD (Euro 6). Pair the 2.0 PD with the GAN GA+, and the 2.2 CRD and 2.0 MultiJet with the GAN GT.

Gas engines and the rest of the range

The first Compass got the 2.4 World Engine at 170 hp and 220 Nm, with four-wheel drive and a manual transmission. Since 2011 the 2.0 World Engine has been offered too, with 156 hp to 158 hp and 190 Nm and front-wheel drive. Both gas engines take the GAN GA+. Second-generation cars with the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo came in 140 hp or 170 hp, but the catalog has one row for it: 165 hp, GAN GT. Recent U.S. Compass models use a 2.0-liter turbo four rated at 200 hp. It is a different engine from the catalog's 1.4 Turbo row, so don't pick that row for it.

The 1.4 MultiAir at 140 hp and the 1.6 MultiJet at 120 hp have no separate Compass rows: the same engines appear as the 1.4 Multiair and the 1.6 CRD under the Jeep Renegade. None of these are in the catalog: the 1.3 FireFly T4, the 4xe plug-in hybrid, the 130 hp 1.6 MultiJet and the 1.5 e-Hybrid. The 2025 third-generation Compass, electric or hybrid, has no row in the catalog. Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk are trims, and the engine is what counts.

FAQ

Jeep Compass tuning FAQ

Jeep Compass tune: what does the 2.0 MultiJet 170 gain, and what about the gas engines?

The 2.0 MultiJet goes from 170 hp to 206 hp with the GAN GT. On the GAN GT, turbo diesels are rated at up to 30% more power; on the GAN GA+, naturally aspirated gas engines are rated at up to 12%. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Which diesel is mine: the 2.0 CRD at 140 hp, or the 2.2 CRD?

Volkswagen supplied the 2.0 CRD PD: 140 hp, 310 Nm, built from April 2007 to 2010. The Mercedes diesel comes in 136 hp and 163 hp versions, both with 320 Nm.

Which gas Compass version is mine?

Take the 2.4 with 170 hp and 220 Nm for the first Compass, or the 2.0 with 158 hp and 191 Nm. The 2.4 rows with 150 hp and 175 hp are not European. U.S. specs list the 2007 to 2010 2.4-liter at 172 hp, and the catalog has a 2.4i row at 172 hp as well.

Jeep Compass tuner or flash tune: what is the difference?

A GAN performance chip sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. A flash tune rewrites the ECU software. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched, and the module comes off in about a minute. Your factory warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
