Subaru Crosstrek tune: how U.S. engines map to the catalog
Subaru sells the Crosstrek new in the U.S., with naturally aspirated gas boxer engines. Subaru's 2025 brochure lists the U.S. Crosstrek's 2.0-liter boxer at 152 hp and its 2.5-liter boxer at 182 hp. The 2.5-liter is the stronger of the two, so a power-minded buyer usually starts there. The catalog's Crosstrek rows come from Europe, where the third generation replaced the XV and the range shrank to a single powertrain, the 2.0 e-Boxer. That e-Boxer pairs a 136 hp, 182 Nm boxer engine with a 16.7 hp electric motor, a Lineartronic CVT and permanent all-wheel drive.
For a Subaru Crosstrek tuner, the engine is what counts: a naturally aspirated boxer. The catalog matches the GAN GA+ to it as the 2.0 ie at 136 hp and 182 Nm, the gas side of the e-Boxer. A 2.0 with 145 hp is listed for a Crosstrek built for other markets; the European car is the e-Boxer. The page has no row at 152 hp or 182 hp; the catalog lists the 2.5-liter separately as a 185 hp 2.5i under Crosstrek (III) 2023 onward, the metric rating of the 182 hp engine, so check your engine and hp against the table before you order.
Subaru Crosstrek tuning FAQ
Is there a Subaru Crosstrek tuner for the e-Boxer?
The module works on the gas engine of the e-Boxer: with the GAN GA+ it goes from 136 hp and 182 Nm to 152 hp and 204 Nm. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power on naturally aspirated engines; no gain is stated for the electric motor or the hybrid system. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
XV or Crosstrek: which page fits my car?
In Europe the XV was sold until 2023, and the 136 hp Crosstrek e-Boxer took over from it, so an earlier car belongs on the XV page.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
