Each engine gets its own performance chip: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per performance chip and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.
Same badge, different factory power outputs in this generation:
Volkswagen Golf V tune: what changes
The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Volkswagen Golf V special
VW Golf Mk5 GTI tune: Edition 30, R32 and the everyday range
In the U.S. the regular Mk5 hatchback was sold as the Rabbit and the performance version as the GTI. The Rabbit's naturally aspirated 2.5 five-cylinder is rated at 150 hp, and at 170 hp on later cars; it has no row in the catalog yet. The U.S. GTI's turbo 2.0 is rated at 200 hp, so find the 2.0 GTI at 200 hp in the table for the GAN GT. The engine is what separates the fast Golf models of this generation. A GTI makes 200 hp and 280 Nm, the GTI Edition 30 makes 230 hp, and the R32 is the last Golf with a six-cylinder.
VW built the Edition 30 from November 2006 to June 2008, and it takes the GAN GT. The R32 pairs the 3.2 VR6 at 250 hp with 4Motion; it's naturally aspirated, so it takes the GAN GA+. Enthusiasts call this generation the Golf 5 or Golf Mk5. The Golf 5 Variant wagon, sold in Europe from April 2007 to 2009, follows the same rule: choose by engine and power.
European 1.4 TSI and pump-injector diesels
The European 1.4 TSI came at 122 hp from July 2007, at 140 hp as a turbo engine, and at 170 hp as the Twincharger in the sport version. The timing chain can be a weak point on the 1.4 TSI (EA111). The 1.9 TDI at 90 and 105 hp and the 2.0 TDI at 140 hp are pump-injector engines.
Volkswagen Golf V tuning FAQ
What does a Golf Mk5 GTI Edition 30 performance chip add?
The Edition 30 goes from 230 hp and 300 Nm to 293 hp and 385 Nm with the GAN GT. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power, and those are the stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your car.
What does the GAN GA+ add to the Golf Mk5 2.0 FSI?
The 2.0 FSI at 150 hp and 200 Nm reaches 168 hp and 224 Nm with the GAN GA+. A naturally aspirated engine like a Rabbit's takes the GAN GA+, while a turbo GTI takes the GAN GT.
Is a GAN GA+ worth adding to a Golf Mk5 R32?
The R32 is a naturally aspirated 3.2 VR6 at 250 hp and 320 Nm, and the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power. Those are stated gains for the engine type, not a dyno reading from your car.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
