Each engine gets its own performance chip: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per performance chip and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.
Same badge, different factory power outputs in this generation:
BMW 5 Series E60 tune: what changes
The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the BMW 5 Series E60 special
BMW E60 535i tune: the badge misleads twice, so go by the engine
U.S. E60s were sold as the 525i, 528i, 530i, 535i, 545i and 550i, and a tune goes by the engine underneath, not the badge. The badge misleads in two ways on the European E60, so this page is about engine power, not styling parts. From 2003 to 2005 the 520i with 170 hp was a 2.2-liter six-cylinder M54B22; from September 2007 it became a 2.0-liter four-cylinder N43B20 with direct injection. The 525i at 218 hp ran the 2.5-liter N52 from July 2005 and the 3.0-liter N53 after the March 2007 facelift.
The 525d started with a 2.5-liter M57 at 177 hp, which stayed until January 2007, and then a 3.0-liter M57 at 197 hp. The 530d began at 218 hp, went to 231 hp, and reached 235 hp after the facelift. Before the facelift the twin-turbo 535d made 272 hp, and afterwards it made 286 hp. U.S. gas sixes such as the 530i are rated a little differently from the European figures, so match your car by the hp in your owner's manual.
Which GAN module fits your E60
The naturally aspirated 520i, 523i, 525i and 530i take the GAN GA+, and the diesels take the GAN GT. The U.S. 535i is a twin-turbo six, so it takes the GAN GT, and the table has a 535i row. The 545i and 550i V8s are naturally aspirated and have rows of their own for the GAN GA+.
BMW launched the E60 sedan in July 2003, followed by the E61 Touring in April 2004 and the facelift, shown on March 24, 2007. The 530d is the best-selling E60, while the German ADAC treats the 520d as the entry diesel.
BMW 5 Series E60 tuning FAQ
BMW E60 530d at 218, 231 or 235 hp: which is which, and what does the GAN GT give?
The 218 hp car is the earliest, up to July 2005, the 231 hp car came next, and the 235 hp car arrived with the 2007 facelift. Of these, the 231 hp car with 500 Nm goes to 277 hp and 620 Nm with the GAN GT. The 530d is a European diesel; the U.S. 530i is a naturally aspirated gas six and takes the GAN GA+. Read these as stated gains for the engine type, not as a dyno reading of your E60.
Is the N47 timing chain a concern on a European 520d E60 from September 2007?
The 163 hp 520d runs the M47, and from September 2007 the 177 hp car runs the N47. On the N47 the chain sits at the transmission end and can stretch, and a rattle at a cold start is the sign. Have it checked from about 100 thousand km.
What are the swirl flaps on the E60 530d and 525d, and do they matter for an E60 performance chip?
On the M57 in the 530d and 525d, the swirl flaps in the intake manifold can break and fall into a cylinder. The metal flaps on some versions are the ones that tend to break, so have them checked before you fit a performance chip.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
