Each engine gets its own performance chip: GAN GT / GTL or GAN GA / GA+. Prices are per performance chip and include the current discount.
Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone isn’t enough: in this generation, the same engine came with different horsepower ratings, each with its own calibration. Check the horsepower in your owner’s manual or vehicle documents and find the matching row.
Same badge, different factory power outputs in this generation:
BMW 5 Series F10 tune: what changes
The module plugs in between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. It never rewrites your ECU software: your factory warranty is preserved, and the module can be removed at any time.
- Bluetoothswitch modes from your phone
- 18 mapsto fine-tune your engine

- 15 minutesplug-and-play install

- +80 hpbest in this generation
535i 326 hp → 406 hp. The other engines gain +20 hp and up; check the table for each one.
- +143 Nmfor diesels
Diesels gain mostly torque: +85 to +143 Nm for towing and hauling.
- up to +12%with the GAN GA+ on naturally aspirated engines
For 6 naturally aspirated engines: the GAN GA / GAN GA+ tuners; check the table for each engine’s numbers.

What makes the BMW 5 Series F10 special
BMW F10 tune: the engines to check first
The U.S. F10 came as the 528i, 535i, 535d and 550i, with xDrive available on each. On the European 520d F10 with 184 hp, the 2.0-liter N47 diesel has a timing chain that is a known weak point. Watch for a rattle on a cold start, since the chain sits at the transmission end. A GAN performance chip is matched to the exact engine, and the chain question applies to the N47 diesels, not to the gas cars.
The F10 is the sedan and the F11 the Touring, and the July 2013 facelift added the 518d. By July 2014 the 520d had moved from the 184 hp N47 to the 190 hp B47, now with 400 Nm. Under the hood of the 550i sits the N63, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. The U.S. 535i is rated at 300 hp and the 2011–2013 550i at 400 hp, which are the catalog's 535i rows at 306 hp and 550i rows at 408 hp.
Which GAN module fits
From 184 hp and 380 Nm, the 520d reaches 218 hp and 481 Nm with the GAN GT. Gains are stated for the engine type, not measured on your car. Looking for a BMW 535i or 550i tune? Both take the GAN GT, like the diesels, while the 520i, 523i and 530i use the GAN GA+.
Also listed here is the 528i of 2010 and 2011 with the 3.0-liter N53: it appears as the 530i at 258 hp and 310 Nm. The later 528i with the 2.0-liter N20 at 245 hp has no row in the catalog. That includes the U.S. 528i with the turbocharged four.
BMW 5 Series F10 tuning FAQ
Is the N47 timing chain on a BMW F10 520d a reason to wait?
The chain problem affects every N47 output, and engines built from March 2007 to January 2009 were hit hardest. A performance chip doesn't replace a worn part, so have the chain checked before you fit one. Because it only adjusts sensor signals, the GAN module never touches the chain.
BMW 550i F10 with the N63 V8: what does the performance chip leave alone?
BMW's N63 V8 has a history of mechanical problems and several service campaigns. The module adjusts sensor signals and doesn't replace any engine part. Both 550i power levels take the GAN GT, and U.S. 550i cars came with an early and a later rating.
How does a GAN performance chip differ from a flash tune on a BMW F10, and what is stage 1?
Stage 1 means a software change, and a flash tune swaps the factory software in the engine control unit. The GAN module leaves the factory software alone, so your factory warranty is preserved: nothing in the ECU changes, and you can remove the module at any time.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU flash tune without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
